Today’s Reflection
FINDING A SAFE place to feel our feeling is not an escape or a running away from reality. Being in a safe place allows time for an inner drawing together, a form of deep centering, putting roots down in God’s vast love. This time allows emotional and spiritual healing while enclosed by God’s protection, God’s comfort.
—Flora Slosson Wuellner, Forgiveness the Passionate Journey: Nine Steps of Forgiving through Jesus’ Beatitudes (Upper Room Books, 2001)

The place for me, which the author speaks of, is in the midst of the quiet, sure presence of His Peace. When peace like a river attendeth my way…I could have never imagined the blessed assurance which comes from this peace. And, now that I have experienced it, do experience it – consistently, constantly, I can’t imagine the absence of it. Thank You, my merciful Father.
It was a blessing to be with my friend again yesterday, accompanying her to her PT appt. To see the level to which she suffers from the chronic illness, of which we both are afflicted, is sobering to me. Yet, to see her perseverance, and lack of complaining – what an inspiration. I feel like she lets her guard down a bit with me, as I can understand a bit more than others, what she experiences, to some extent. We almost immediately fall into deep conversation. She is empathetic and has a deep gift of listening and counsel. I always walk away from our interactions full and blessed, feeling as though I have been ministered to. Yesterday, following her appt – the conversation was more about her sensing a nudging from God, a call to help others. She feels so physically limited and is cautious about stepping out. But, I think our conversation has her thinking, leaning in to hear God’s still, small voice…wanting to trust. Before she got out of my car, I took the opportunity to pray for her. I hope she was encouraged by our time together, as so many times I have been the recipient of her encouragement and counsel.
I did get a fair amount of schoolwork accomplished this weekend, including a lot of grading. It seems there is always more to do…but faithful, consistent attention is needed, more so this year with the new curriculum.
Rick – I hope the acclimation to this new medication is quick and compatible with your system.
Thankful Jill had such a meaningful, helpful, supportive get together with her friend and a lot of schoolwork was accomplished. Prayers too for Rick and new medication, Julie and a safe place, Marcy’s needs, health, and well-being, Lou’s new situation, Andrea, her daughter and grandson; Mary on a mission trip, Connie, Betsy, April, Edy and her son, and all of the needs, concerns, and blessings of the UR family.
Progress with starting a business and some fun skiing for Erich. He’s doing very thorough careful prep.
While it doesn’t run the right engine for the Langenschwalbacher train (I know that is a tongue twister) is in place. One day I’ll have an engine that runs. My long awaited running boards for the Bismarck are scheduled to arrive on Friday. Glad to be able to run trains.
Prayers for Meesook suffering from pain after spinal surgery.
My safe time is when it is quiet and I am alone with God or out on the hiking trail, some times even at the gym. It comes when focus is strong and sustained.
God’s wisdom is surely needed in Washington DC. I pray for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
My safe space is locked in my bedroom, alone and knowing h cannot get to me. It is also when h is not home.
Prayers for Jill and her friend, may her friend find relief through PT.
Prayers for Robert and his continued diligent work on his trains. Prayers for Meesook, may she recover quickly. I strongly second your prayers for our congresspeople. May they be guided by the constitution, not party affiliation or loyalty to the president.
Prayers for Rick as his body adjusts to a new medication, may he have no side effects and may the medication be effective
Prayers for Andrea and her family, may all live harmoniously. Prayers for April and her Bible study and reflection. Prayers for BJ and her mother. Prayers for Connie and her pain. Prayers for Edy and her son. Prayers for Lou, may she find happiness. Prayers for Mary, may she be safe and well in Indonesia. Prayers for Marcy, may she be well.
