New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Meditation opens our hearts and minds to the transforming ways of the Lord. For me personally, various forms of meditation have firmly planted God’s word in my heart and mind, not just as a tool to remember trivial information but as a touchpoint memory of truth-telling encounters with God. That word can come not only from scripture but also from the created world around me, including people whose paths cross mine. In my relationship with my spiritual director, our conversation allows me to ponder and reflect on life, excavating the secrets of wisdom and understanding I need for this time.

Prayer for the Week

Holy God, thank you for the gift of spiritual direction and for someone to accompany me on my journey of growing closer to you. Help me to remain open to suggestions my spiritual director offers and to pay attention to signs of your presence. Amen.

I used to meditate but now with h acting as he does I have no time. Again today he refused to shower. His hallucinations and delusions have ramped up. He thinks there are people in the house moving things out and that Megan and I are leaving. The stress is affecting my health to a greater and greater degree each day as he continues day after day. I am so looking forward to my time away tomorrow. I really need a relaxing day with no arguments.
