Today’s Reflection
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 3:16-17
God … is pleased with Jesus, God’s beloved Son. Why is God pleased? It is because Jesus models for others the importance of baptism; but it is something else too. God is pleased because Jesus shows us true humility by being baptized by John the Baptist, the prophet tasked with preparing the way for him. …
God is pleased because Jesus is showing all of us an aspect of true servant leadership.

Hit the wrong key and whoosh away my comment went. Start again.
I think God’s words are for Jesus and for us. Jesus knew He was God’s Son. God is telling us who Jesus is. I’m sure Jesus is thankful His Father approves. We are glad to know this about Jesus. It encourages us to trust, accept Jesus.
Prayers for John who wants surgery that he has a 50-50 chance of surviving. The pain he has is unbearable.
I drove him to see the doctor yesterday. It was a long trip.
A winter weather advisory for snow and ice is in effect.
The first days of the new year are flying by..
Hope healing, well-being, and progress come to all in need here at NEM
Blessings and prayers for all of you. Thank You , Lord.
I agree with Robert. My first thought was that Jesus already knew of his sonship and since he prayed often and was in complete communication with God, he already knew his Father loved him and approved of him and his actions. So therefore his words were not meant for Jesus but for believers.
H is still confused but mostly in the mornings. He is also very argumentative and my thin patience is getting tested and made thinner every day. My therapy is progressing well.
Prayers for Jill and her fellow teachers as they continue to prepare to strike for their safety. Prayers for Ally and David as they continue to struggle with his health issues.
Most of us as children want to please our parents. I’m sure Jesus was glad to have pleased his Father. But it seems almost superficial language. Was God pleased? I suppose God was glad God’s Son fully obeyed and demonstrated servant leadership as an example to us. It was for us.
Thank you Robert and Julie for your insight into this question. Robert, I’m praying for your friend who is facing a difficult and complicated surgery. Julie, prayers for you as you deal with H. Glad you are progressing in therapy. Jill, prayers as you and your fellow teachers prepare to strike. Hope your MRI results were positive. Prayers for all our NEM family in this New Year.
David is working hard at therapy l. My prayer is that his quality of life will increase so that he can enjoy some of the things he usually likes to do . My sister Amy is coming today for a visit. I can’t wait to see her. Took Kitty Lewis to the vet this morning. He’s the one with chronic respiratory issues. Please lift him up. He’s been good for a couple of months.
I believe Jesus knew that the witnesses to that event were the targeted audience of His Father. The Trinity is such a challenging thing to grasp by our limited, human minds.
Teachers were pretty much on edge, asking questions and receiving non-answers. Our principal took it easy on us today – some meetings, but they were brief. I was able to finish grading my exams.
I was able to meet with my sports med doc and she was surprised (not in a positive way) about my MRI results. Not really any answers and waiting on bloodwork results from my rheumatologist. Not able to move forward as I can possibly be without insurance come Monday. More waiting.
Seems like many of us are in this holding pattern, receiving unwanted answers or non-answers. My prayer to God is that I would learn well what He intends for me to learn in this season. I pray He continues to strengthen you both, Julie and Ally, as you provide care in your households. You, as well, Robert – for wisdom and resources – as you assist Erich and his desires.
May God draw us nearer to Him as we endure and abide. Increase our faith, Father, when it wavers.
