Today’s Reflection
Though Christmas often focuses on the family and gifts, there dwells a constant theme that the Child of Bethlehem is for the whole world. The angels announce that the good news of great joy is “for all people” and the heavenly choir sings, “Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace, good will among people” (Luke 2:10, 14). There is a global and life-changing, world-changing context to this Birth in Bethlehem.

I hope that the love I give is how I share the Good News with everyone I meet- the stranger on the street, the patient in my office, and with my own children. I hope for more joy in my heart – the birth of the Christchild is reason enough if I can only focus on that- but I admit that I get distracted and stuck in a pity party of memories of what my life used to be like and how happy I was in that life-holidays are the hardest even surrounded by my three beautif children. They wanted to watch old videos of their childhood the other day – how bittersweet – it was quite painful.
But today- I am focused on the love of God and the joy that comes from knowing that love – and that He will never leave us.
I am enjoying quiet time in the light of the Christmas tree before my children are up. I am thankful that I am able to provide a very nice Christmas celebration for them. The service was wonderful last night with my pew that was full. Thank you God. Thank you for the gift of your Son- the most precious gift.
Thank you for all here at the UR- special Christmas love and blessings to you all.
