New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

You are a “word” of God! Every human being is a word that God speaks into existence. Paul makes a profound statement in Ephesians 1:4 (paraphrased): “God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before God in love.” . . . It seems that Paul is taking us back to Genesis 1: “God said . . . and there was . . .” It takes us back to the primal Word of God by which all creation was “spoken forth” into being. But Paul takes us even further. He says that we are a word of God “spoken forth” even before the foundation of the world.

Today’s Scripture

God said, “Let us make humanity in our image to resemble us so that they may take charge of the fish of the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and all the crawling things on earth.”

I have never thought of myself in this exact way. Yet – I know He had plans for me before creation. I can’t fully grasp it, yet know it to be truth.
It was so very good to see dad enjoy the family being together yesterday. His sister and niece and her husband drove in from a few hours away. Very meaningful. Lots of food, always – and cards. My sister’s oldest son and his wife stopped by unexpectedly – as she was with her family in the morning and afternoon. Really made Becky happy.
My god son’s first basketball game is tonight. His school is less than 15 minutes from where Becky and Dad live – so I will spend the afternoon there and then go to the game in the evening. There is plenty of left over turkey and food for us to have for dinner.

I have not thought of myself as word of God spoken into existence, but as a child of God due my faith. ThankYou, Lord.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
