New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

God’s welcome mat is always out. We are invited to put the welcome mat out for others who may have wandered, to remind them of God’s unending love and open arms.

—Herb Mather, The Upper Room Disciplines 2025 (Upper Room Books)

Today’s Scripture

[Jesus] told them this parable: “Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?”

Putting the welcome mat out for a professed nonbeliever is a challenging task, especially one wo has turned away. I think by my actions, not by words, is the path to take. I’m not ready to shake my sandals and walk away. Thank You, Lord, that You are open to all.

A welcome mat I can offer today is holding eye contact, making the other feel heard. To be listened to well is such a gift. Letting the other know that time is not a concern while listening – a blessing indeed. I will hear you.
A very busy week, getting back into the flow of school and regular activities.
Becky, Dad and Don head back home tomorrow. They are surely ready to be out of these cold temps and gray days. I don’t blame them. Colder than usual this week…so much so yesterday morning that I didn’t take my morning run.
An early Chinese takeout dinner this afternoon with them and cards. Then on to my god son’s basketball game. It will be good to see his mom tonight – she missed Tuesday’s game as she was out of town for work.

I love welcome mats!! When I come to a door that has one, I already anticipate receiving a warm welcome. We have one by our door and when I open it to guests, I always greet them with a smile:))
Actions do speak louder than words. I try different ways to share the love of Jesus: food, listening, Upper Room devotion, etc…maybe one of them “worked” and if not, I have tried and will try again.
    Blessings to all today.
