New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

We Are the Church… Let’s Act Like It

A Study on the Book of Acts

Linda Tower Pevey

Racial prejudices, disagreements over theology, clashes with religious leaders…

Church problems are nothing new.

According to the book of Acts, the early church had to work through challenges that are eerily similar to those facing churches today. As was true of the early church, the Holy Spirit is still active in our lives today, helping us navigate these challenges and leading us into new ways of ministering and transforming the world.

We Are the Church…Let’s Act Like It is a 7-week study on the book of Acts. This study helps Christian faith communities discern where God is working in their church and their community, and how God is equipping them through their spiritual gifts, personal experiences, and social context to join in God’s transforming mission.

This study is ideal for small-group use and has weekly interactive group activities and discussion questions. Sermon Starters are also available as an additional purchase.

We Are the Church…Let’s Act Like It: Sermon Starters

Engage your whole congregation in a formative study on the book of Acts.

We Are the Church… Let’s Act Like It: Sermon Starters include reflections and prompts to help pastors write their own message for each week’s topic along with a passage from Acts, a Gospel lesson, a prayer, and a benediction for use in worship. The reflections and prompts are in three sections: Introduction, Explore the Scriptures, and Let’s Act Like It.

Equip and encourage your church to be an active and transformative presence in the world.
