New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Naturally, we can’t compel God to act on our timetable. Despite our earnest prayers and best willingness to surrender to whatever healing God wants, it may seem that God has put the process on hold. It may even seem that God has gone somewhere else. At this juncture it’s important not to blame or beat ourselves up but to stay open as best we can. We can also ask ourselves if a small part of us just might stand in the way of our surrender.

Today’s Scripture

Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.
—Matthew 9:20-22 (NRSV)

Leaning into God in prayer and reading scripture helps me but it is difficult at times to give over to His timetable – I admit my impatience and doubt and pray for God to forgive this weakness. Praying for you all for a safe thanksgiving however you celebrate it. For me it will be my son and his girlfriend- I pray we are safely gathering as best we can. Prayers for all of you and your safety during these trying times. I have much to be thankful for and I am trying to focus on those things and not on the fact that I miss my other family members so much. God be with you all.

Knowing, Scripture tells us this, that God’s ways are not our ways, but that God is and will be with us always sustains me . I try not to put a timetable on God’s plans. Trust and obey, there is no other way!
There are things we can change, and things we can’t. That’s reality.

Prayers for all of the UR Family, the US, and the world. While not all of us have a national Thanksgiving holiday, the concept of Thanksgiving is universal. Hope for the best, be as prepared as you can for what ever comes, and give what is God’s to God.

Snow on the ground, here and there, roads bare. I pray you are all safe wherever you are. Thank You, Lord.

I read the Bible for there is much in the many books that illustrate that God does things in the time He knows to be best. I remember the years of suffering with Reynaud’s before getting a diagnosis. Many doctors scoffed at my asking if it was Reynaud’s saying it was too severe to be that. And then just last year finding a doctor who prescribed the first medicine that brought true relief. I llok at my hands and all the parts missing and mangled and now useless and know that God had reasons that will be revealed in time.
Prayers for Lou and all her children, wherever they celebrate may they hold one another in their hearts.
Prayers for Robert and his family as they also celebrate, may they be safe and spend time connecting with Zoom.
Prayers for Jill and Larry as they celebrate together while doing so safely. May they connect with other family members also through Zoom.
Prayers for Ally and David as they spend the day resting and relaxing and healing together.
Megan and I would normally be on the road to my mom’s. This year I am both sad and relieved. I enjoy spending time with family but my mom is difficult. Even a cousin remarked to me about how negative my mother is. My mom had already started complaining about Thanksgiving as my aunt is not feeling well and therefore my cousin will be hosting this year. Megan and I will enjoy ourselves eating what we want and doing what we want surrounded by our kitties.

Reading scriptures about healing remind me that God is active and present and works in God’s time. I also sing my favorite hymns and gospel songs. Before I go to bed, I watch relaxing videos of creation set to worship music. This helps me manage anxiety. Another practice is reading prayers from sources such as the Book Of Common Prayer. Our forum here reminds me of what God is doing in the lives of others. Thank You Lord, for giving us these gifts.
I am scheduled for my first cataract surgery next week. There are still hurdles. Please pray for these. I lift up each of you and pray you find ways to give thanks, even though connecting with family is a challenge this year. For some, that may be a blessing. I pray for each person’s safety and for safety of family. Thank you God, for all Your provisions. Amen.
