Today’s Reflection
Wherever we serve, the Table of our Lord is a table with a window on the whole, wide, wonderful, wounded world. When we gather around that Table in our particular place, we are united with Jesus’ followers in every place — people whose faces we will never see and whose names we will never know but brothers and sisters with whom we are “one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet” (The United Methodist Hymnal, Word and Table: Service I).

Today’s Question
When you receive Communion, who do you imagine is participating with you? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.”
—Mark 14:22 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. This is a new idea, most times at Communion I am very much in the PRESENT moment. As Communion steward the community of faith is my concern. It has been a blessing to do this since our new pastor arrived and before that with Extended Table when we did not have a pastor. While the amount of food and drink consumed is small, the spiritual power received is beyond human description. Thank You, Lord
I am usually thinking of how humbling and awe inspiring the practice of Communion is. I am also thinking of Jesus’s sacrifice for me.
Have I done an unselfish thing? Well then,I have my reward.
