Today’s Reflection
Sometimes we can only wait in hope on the provision of a holy energy that seems beyond our own to give us the lift for which we hunger.
—Susan Carol Scott, Still Praying After All These Years: Meditations for Later Life (Upper Room Books, 2019)
Today’s Question
When have you sensed a need for the divine provision of strength beyond your known resources? How did that provision come? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
—Isaiah 40:29-31 (NRSV)
Prayer for the Week
Sustainer of all that is, give me faith that hopes in what I cannot see. Thank you for the small miracles that find me each day. Amen.

Just a few years ago I felt this “sensed a need for the divine provision of strength beyond my known resources.” Every month finances were tight as I struggled to pay off a debt. In prayer I felt encouraged to continue, reassured that I would accomplish the task. A lot of worry dissipated, and yes, the task was accomplished. That has encouraged me to complete paying other debts, with the last one to be paid next month. Thank You, Lord. You certainly have seen me through.
Congratulations Robert and Well Done!! What a wonderful feeling to be free of debt!! Baby steps are each a step forward.
I have felt strengthened several times in my life. They come when I am down, the sun is not shining, the road ahead is unsure. Then I say “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. One word for every finger. And take the first step.
Connecting with friends by email, text, letters, are all small assurances that God is with me and I am with them.
I read the website Gratefulness and reflect on the fact that that I have so many things to be grateful for.
May God’s love rest upon the NEM family today as we celebrate this Sunday.
