New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The core of [Paul’s] new learning has to do with the equality of all people in God’s eyes. Because of Christ, because of the Holy Spirit, according to the will of God, all people receive God’s salvation. Men, women, young, old, Jew, Greek, slave or free are united to Christ and therefore join him as offspring of Abraham. All “are one in Christ Jesus” and can be filled with the Holy Spirit. All can minister using the gifts of the Spirit.

—Elaine A. Heath, God Unbound: Wisdom from Galatians for the Anxious Church (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Question

How much does your faith community emphasize the equality of all people in God’s eyes?

Today’s Scripture

There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.
—Galatians 3:28-29 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Holy God, thank you for the many expressions of church that are available to us today. Help us remember that we are your beloved children. Guide us to love one another and to remain faithful to you through prayer and other spiritual practices. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

While none of us are perfect without the redemption of Christ, CCUMC is an inclusive community of faith. Do we have a huge variety of people? No. Do we include people others reject? Yes. Everyone is a person and God loves everyone, everybody, ALL PEOPLE. We are taught, commanded, to love everyone, EVEN ENEMIES! It’s challenging, but what Jesus taught us to do. Thank You, Lord.
Blessings to ALL on Trinity Sunday,

My church has not posted on the sign on the road out front, “”All are welcome here.” At least my request was denied in about 2019 when I asked them to do so after seeing this on a sign at a UMC in Sheboygan, WI. Since then I notice this on other signs. The pastor does invite everyone to the table at Communion. I recall a recent reading in The Disciplines to the effect that it is Christ’s invitation.

Interesting that this question should come up today, as a few weeks ago, our pastor had a visit from 2 pastors in our community, who brought concerns that our church is “too inclusive”. I think we must be doing something right, if we are considered too loving and too accepting. We are doing things like the Father does them. Hallelujah. Good morning, all. Those of us whose fathers have gone on are on my heart today. I remember my daddy. September 24 will be 30 years since he transitioned to heaven. By God’s grace, we have made it through. He remains forever in my heart.
