Today’s Reflection
A spiritual director [is like] a musical director who neither writes the music nor performs it. The director listens, observes, tunes the ear, blends the notes into a harmonious whole, and highlights spots of dissonance or hurried rhythms.
—Marsha Crockett, Sacred Conversation: Exploring the Seven Gifts of Spiritual Direction (Upper Room Books, 2022)
Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture
Listen to advice and accept instruction,
that you may gain wisdom for the future.
—Proverbs 19:20 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
Holy God, thank you for the gift of spiritual direction and for someone to accompany me on my journey of growing closer to you. Help me to remain open to suggestions my spiritual director offers and to pay attention to signs of your presence. Amen.

Unfortunately, at my church our spiritual life is being left to shrivel and wither. We don’t even have a Bible Study.

In think there have been “hints” from people I know. I don’t have close friends, a mentor or spiritual director. Long ago and very briefly there was a mentor. Nowadays the hints come from Bible/book study, choir practice, and church fellowship. Thank You, Lord, for Your everlasting, everpresent love.
I have been Blessed with a number of friendships that have guided my spiritual path throughout my life. I’ve stumbled at times I thought I could do it all on my own. I feel blessed that when I get quiet and make time for God in prayer and mediation a new path or door opens.
