THE FELT PRESENCE of those who love and nurture us is a manifestation of God’s Holy Spirit, and that presence is always with us. Our sacred memories of loved ones and loved places represent the kingdom of God within us. We can never be apart from it—unless we forget.
Prayer focuses our attention on the presence of God. It is a practice of remembering.
—Tom Camp, Upper Room Disciplines 2019 (Upper Room Books, 2018)
Who do you remember that represents the kingdom of God around you?
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.”
—Hebrews 12:1 (NRSV)
