New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Our weaknesses invite us to lean into God, to know that we cannot and need not do it alone. Weaknesses remind us of our human limits and our dependence. But God comes in our strength too. Like all our virtues, our strength is a grace from the Lord, a gift of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us. May we see our moments of strength and our moments of weakness as invitations to draw more closely to God.

—Lauren Burdette, This Life That Is Ours: Motherhood as Spiritual Practice (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Today’s Question

When have you come face to face with your weaknesses? When have you been surprised by your strength? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

[Christ] said to me, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me.
—2 Corinthians 12:9 (CEB)

Prayer for the Week

Lord,
May I see my moments of strength and my moments of weakness as invitations to draw closer to you.
Amen.

Relations with others bring out weaknesses. Thankfully I am being helped. Lunch with a church friend today, will do some shopping too. Cloudy, but no rain. Time to read your posts.

Reading in Leviticus this morning I agree that there is a great change from the OT to the NT. Yes, God is the same being, but the emphasis is on LOVE, GRACE, and MERCY in the NT. Finding the right church, dealing with close relatives, trying to teach via ZOOM, looking for a job, negotiating the court system, helping children, and just plain living are all challenges. They begin the day we are born and are with is even when we are no longer able. How we handle them is what counts. We all have differences and similarities and through those are able to act as God’s hands. How amazing is that! Prayers, of course, for all of you as you meet, deal with, handle the challenges you face. I do hope Julie hears from the lady she met while shopping and that recovery comes to everyone with health issues, that there is soon peace in every respect here in America. With people from every part of the world here, both the positives and the negatives are here too. America is challenged by these and how we deal with them is how we will be judged. Thank You, Lord, for the blessings we have, may You guide us in making Your kingdom come here as it is in heaven.

I see my weakness as I continue to deal with h and the divorce and the toll it is taking on me. I saw my strength during the deposition.

I have seen the ability to overcome my technological timidity and weaknesses by just putting my head down and accepting what needed to be done and acquainting myself with the necessary skills to teach online. The strongness of my stubbornness finally ceded (became weak?) when I surrendered it to the Lord, and gratefully the last several years with my mom were lived out well, and I have no regrets. Christ has done a mighty work in me and I continue to learn what it means to exist and operate in His strength and not my own. When I am sensing I am running low, I must remind myself that His timing is always perfect and He will sustain me.
Spent today with my dad, sister and brother-in-law. We had lunch together, did some shopping together and then my sister and I ran a few extra errands. I think things are in the best place they have been for a while, and I think we are both hopeful to spend more meaningful time together this summer. This, too, is the work of God. Yes, I have had to “work” to surrender and surrender – desiring that God would change me, and not ask Him to change her. Thank You, Father.
Tennis went great last night – the team won – we are district champs and will play the Fall champion at the beginning of next year to advance to States. Somewhat anticlimactic, but the summer season begins this week – so carry on.
My god daughter turned 18 today – unbelievable and has her prom this evening. I got to attend her brother’s track meet this morning – he is such a gifted athlete. Looks like a natural at both the high and long jump.
Julie – I would encourage you to reach out to the lady. Maybe, she too, is wondering why you haven’t called. This way, I think you will know, based on her reaction – whether there is reason to continue.
