New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

To age faithfully means that we develop a new understanding of self-worth. Throughout our lives, we are taught in countless ways by our society that our worth is determined by our productivity. But as mature adults, we are able to affirm the value God places upon human life, not worth that is dependent on the amount or quality of work that a person does.

Today’s Scripture

The glory of youths is their strength,
but the beauty of the aged is their gray hair.

Self-worth is the internal sense of being good enough and worthy of love and belonging from others. Self-worth is often confused with self-esteem, which relies on external factors such as successes and achievements to define worth and can often be inconsistent leading to someone struggling with feeling worthy. Honestly, I don’t think about such things. If I do, have, they are quite muddled and hard to express. That I am a child of God is quite sufficient. Thank You, Lord

I have found myself understanding that life is a gift. Hod consciously wills each person to be here. So it is my honor to appreciate the gift of my life that God gives each day. I try to make decisions that hold God’s gift precious.
