New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

One of the first lessons we learn from Paul as he discerns whether revelations he received were truly from Christ, thus worthy of his trust and obedience, comes in conferring with spiritually mature people who have known Jesus (not just known about Jesus) longer than he has. The apostles who knew Jesus prior to his death and resurrection give Paul their blessing, acceptance, and affirmation because his astonishing story corresponds with the way of the Jesus they knew.

Today’s Question

When have you had conversations with spiritually mature people? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

I encourage you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Agree with each other and don’t be divided into rival groups. Instead, be restored with the same mind and the same purpose.
—1 Corinthians 1:10 (CEB)

Prayer for the Week

Holy God, thank you for the many expressions of church that are available to us today. Help us remember that we are your beloved children. Guide us to love one another and to remain faithful to you through prayer and other spiritual practices. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Determining whether a person is spiritually mature requires an opinion based on sound knowledge. Am I qualified to make such an opinion? I’ll suggest, first, a youth pastor 25+ years ago, a pastor in my last church, my current pastor, and members of the Bible/book study group I meet with weekly.
Only God knows for sure if anyone is spiritually mature. Thank You, Lord.

I have learned much from my pastor, those in my Bible study group and my best friend, Ally. These are people who have insights regarding the scriptures as well as reverence for the Lord.
Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you are absolutely right.
