Today’s Reflection
For Jesus, compassion inspires a genuine loving regard that flows freely from the heart. It is rooted in the restorative compassion of God that is given to all humanity. The radicality of his path is that the healing power of sacred compassion holds us precisely where we are—in our fears and angers, our shames and suppressions, even in our resistance to wanting to love at all. Indeed, within these shadowy impulses we can experience more deeply the healing and renewing presence of God and become filled with a compassion that extends not only toward these very reactivities raging within us but also toward those who trigger them in the first place.

Prayer for the Week
Lord, open our eyes that we may see you in our brothers and sisters.
Lord, open our ears that we may hear the cries of the hungry, the cold, the frightened, the oppressed.
Lord, open our hearts that we may love each other as you love us.
Renew in us your spirit.
Lord, free us and make us one. Amen.

God loves everyone, yes, everyone, and we are asked to do the same. That’s an amazing love that is offereed to all, friend and foe alike. We are asked to see God in each person and in doing so love as God loves. It is for us a challenging task, but I am beginning to see aspects of God in people who have triggered me. Some people are far more difficult than others. Keep trying! Thank You, Lord.
Recognizing how God faithfully accepts me, despite my waywardness and sinfulness – His compassion and forgiveness is more. And He asks me to do the same. Restoration is a beautiful concept. Full forgiveness paves the way to re-storying, restoring. As the song says…”His grace is more.”
It will be good to be in His house for worship this morning.
If the weather holds – tennis this afternoon. And dinner with a former student of mine. Looking forward to seeing progress on the house she purchased. It will be good to catch up.
