New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Only a deep relationship with a cosmic and personal God can deliver us from self-hatred and hatred of our oppressors and inspire us to meet hatred with love. Thurman’s prophetic spirituality, in its joining of contemplation and action, the inner and outer journeys, and spirituality and justice-seeking, shaped a whole generation of prophetic voices. Martin Luther King Jr. often carried Thurman’s Jesus and the Disinherited in his briefcase and no doubt was inspired by its politics of love.

Most recently I would say Neale Donald Walsch and his book, Conversations with God. Making final preparations for Sunday’s service, have to make sure I can see, read my parts. Thankful there’s been good progress. Tomorrow is strawberry shortcake prep day, hull berries and bake biscuits, then pack up for sale on the 4th. Thankful for replenished resources that make life possible. Wonderful chicken cacciatore yesterday with more available today. The predicted weather forecast yesterday doesn’t seem to be materializing, can easily change, we’re in New England. Have had fantastic weather the last three days. Blessings to care givers April, Ally, Julie, Jill, and Lou. Loving our neighbors as ourselves, we all to some extent are caregivers. Thank You, Lord.

I really do not have an answer to this question.
As I continue to make sure h gets his medications he continues to improve which is good and bad. He is better able to move around and seems to have more stability. His mind seems to be doing better also as he seems to understand more but still becomes confused at times. The bad part is that he is becoming petulant and angry because I have his keys, wallet and phone. For various reasons including the fact that I found out he has been lying to me, I cannot give him these back until I get his power of attorney.
Prayers for Ally and David, for David’s healing and rehab help with improved stability and for Ally’s heart to be comforted by God through all the trials she is experiencing. Prayers for April, Jill, Lou and Rick. Prayers for Robert and his church as they resume their strawberry shortcake fundraiser, may it be successful.

I am not even sure what a modern prophet is…I enjoy reading things written by Richard Rohr – although I do not always agree with him. Some people, in general, say some authors should not be read for this reason or that, for a stance they take or don’t take. But, I enjoy the brain exercise as well as the heart exercise – of trying to discern what is truth. If something doesn’t resonate, I try to probe why that is. The Bible must be the foundation for everything.
I also enjoy several people who are steeped in Ignaitian Spirituality. Most of these resonate deeply with me…quietness, yet active using one’s gift(s).
Dad struggled physically a bit on the golf course yesterday. Becky and I continue to stress the need to drink lots of water. I think that is the basis of his problem, but he is hard to convince of this. He felt weak and shaky, but insisted that we continue to play.
The tennis match Wednesday evening was incredible and the team won. We have qualified for playoffs, and have one regular season match remaining. Afterwards the team sat outside for two hours talking. Getting to know these women. Each has a story, some heart rendering. They are good people, and I am grateful to be getting to know some of them on a much deeper level. I was able to have a one-on-one conversation with the captain regarding my condition/diagnosis. She was awesome. She listened well and created a safe space for me to be honest and vulnerable. Meant more to me than the tennis match. I can trust her with my truth and it means quite a bit to me.
Lazing around today, letting my body recover from 4 nights of tennis.
