New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Fill my heart to overflowing with your love.
Enable me to love my neighbor as I love myself.
Plant within me a sure trust and confidence that
Christ died for me and loves me still.

—Paul W. Chilcote, Praying in the Wesleyan Spirit: 52 Prayers for Today (Upper Room Books, 2001)

Today’s Scripture

Agrippa said to Paul, “Are you so quickly persuading me to become a Christian?”
—Acts 26:28 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Gracious God, fill our hearts to overflowing, that we may live not in fear but in joyful obedience. When we stumble or fall short, remind us that your mercy meets us there, inviting us to grow, to abide, and to rejoice in your presence. Let our lives be shaped by your love and sustained by your Spirit. Amen.

Something More

In the devotional classic Praying in the Wesleyan Spirit, renowned Wesleyan scholar Paul Chilcote invited readers to experience the spiritual depth of John Wesley’s sermons through devotional prayer. Now, in Transformed by Grace: 52 More Prayers in the Wesleyan Spirit, Chilcote continues this journey, offering a fresh collection of weekly prayers and hymns inspired by Wesley’s later sermons. I would LOVE ALL NEIGHBORS AS MYSELF. In the cuurent environment I’m findimg thos effort enormously difficult since I see actions taken by fellow citizens that harm other citizens and treat nne citozens in humanely.

I echo Robert’s sentiment in that I could love all humanity. I could also forgive those who harm me which is something I struggle with greatly.
