Today’s Reflection
In order to reset our souls and experience the wholeness we crave, we need only look to Jesus. He showed us how to be in ministry, how to work long hours, how to address the needs and expectations of many people, all while staying connected to God. He knows that it’s all too easy to get burned out on religion. He knows that taking a real rest is rarely easy to do. He knows that we need to recover our lives. He knows how we feel and what we go through because he has lived it. God came to us in Jesus Christ and walked our steps, felt our feelings, experienced everything that we go through. He is the path to wholeness.

Today’s Scripture
[Jesus said,] “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”

Prayer for the Week
O God, I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My whole being longs for you as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. [prayer adapted from Psalm 63:1]

A difficult question today. What is Christian wholeness? By ourselves we aren’t whole, we are human. Thankfully we are instilled with a yearning for God. Through Jesus and the Holy Spirit we can come closer to God. Abiding in Jesus we are made whole. He is the vine, we are the branches, without the vine, there are no branches. Thank You, Lord for loving us while we were still sinners and enabling us to be in communion with You.
Bible/book study resumes today at 9:30, we finish UNAFRAID and decide on a new study. While the colors of fall are starting to show, and opportunity for spiritual growth has returned. Thank You, Lord.
I would define wholeness for myself as having an ongoing awareness of God, His leading in my life, His peace sustaining me. It would involve regular time with Him, consistent worship, intentional gratitude. There would also be involvement with others, sacrificially giving of time to address needs unmet.
Our principal has been very generous building in time for us on these days to not be overwhelmed by meetings and to have time to prepare our classrooms and our lessons. I am very appreciative. This being year 32, it could also be “old hat” as well. But – the staff feels it.
Enjoying taking in quite a bit of tennis. Nice to come home and relax with that on in the background.
