New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As we age, changes are apt to rock our boat more than in the past. It can take longer to adapt and get our sea legs. Though building trust in unfamiliar circumstances takes time, God meets us and loves us through both our resistance and receptivity to strange new beginnings. Changes activate our curiosity about how God may be at work in our circumstances. Changes also challenge us to become creative meaning-makers in our new circumstances. In this way we collaborate with God in making a way in the wilderness.

Today’s Scripture

Do not remember the former things,
or consider the things of old.
I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
—Isaiah 43:18-19, NRSV

    I’m slower to anger, more forgiving, reading and studying the Bible more these days. Thankful for memories from the past several days 46 years ago. Hopefully this summer photos from those days and many other times will be organized and made available to my granddaughters who have little understanding of their “missing” grandmother. As May approaches I pray that the end of Julie’s ordeal is coming soon. Prayers for Marcy’s health and well-being, Ally’s thumb and job prospects, David’s recovery , Jill’s days at school, her Dad in Florida, April, Lou, and the NEM family. Prayers for progress with the end of the pandemic, improvements in policing, mental health care, gun control, the economy, and an end to systemic racism. Lord, we are always in need of You. Thank You, Lord, for Your ever presence. May there be reality in the statement, “In God We Trust.”

    God helps me as I am very bad at dealing with change. I am a planner and find myself in a tailspin when carefully crated plans go awry. I am becoming less rankled by detours thanks to God’s work with me.
    Prayers for Robert and his wonderful album endeavor and may his grandaughters realize the love he offers them through this gift. Prayers for Ally’s job search and her thumb;s healing as well as David’s continued recovery. Prayers for Jill and her students, may they connect over the learning proces and grow in their abilities to teach and to learn.
    Prayers for Lou and her upcoming reunion with her girls. Prayers for Marcy and her health and finances. Thank you for your prayers for my leg. God hears and responds and my leg is feeling much better. H comes and goes as he wishes and I try to ignore him as much as possible. The hearing is in June and that is just the beginning, then the divorce will have to proceed based on the judges ruling. I am cautiously hopeful in that h admitted he knew I was mentally incapable of comprhending what I was signing. If indeed the signature is mine. He also never gave me a copy of the paper and he did not fulfill several of the things the paper says he will do for me.
    Prayers for the UR one and all

    I’ve made it through by utter dependence on God. As the Sermon on the Mount goes in The Message – when we have come to the end of our rope, there is less of me and more of God. Too bad we end up at the end of our rope, kicking and screaming…when all along He is there beside us, ready to carry our burden, indeed – carry us.
    Wisdom, prayer and time given by friends have held me up – as Aaron and Hur held up the arms of Moses.
    Father – may You continue to be present to and sustaining for Robert, through his counseling and concern for Erich, as well as with Julie as she faces so many uncertainties with the proceedings for the divorce. May both Robert and Julie trace back through their journeys and see Your providential care. Prayers too for Marcy, April, Lou, Rick, Ally and David. Father – thank You for the UR – the untold blessings they are to so many people in all corners of the world.
    May we all strive to make Your great Name known to all.
