New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Over the next twelve months a breast was cut off, my hair fell out, and my eyebrows vanished. But as my body grew fragile from treatments, my inner life flourished. Cancer waltzed into our lives like an unwanted dance partner, but it didn’t get to choose the music. Through texts, Facebook posts, emails, cards, and responses to my newspaper column, hundreds of friends walked alongside Jim and me on this unexpected journey.

I’ll be praying for you, dear lady.
You’re on my heart!
I stand with you.
God will be your guide and strength.

From the start, I was never alone. If I ever doubted the value of family, friends, and my faith community, I never will again. A beginning, not an end.

—Jan Woodard, Texting Through Cancer: Ordinary Moments of Community, Love, and Healing (Upper Room Books, 2021)

Sorry, but right now I feel very alone! I just received an email from my lawyer about my deposition which is this Thursday morning as is h’s. However, my lawyer sent his information several weeks ago. She received my notice over the weekend and now wants to prepare on Wednesday. So we have less than a week to prepare and he had several weeks with his lawyers to prepare. Also, yesterday as Megan and I were sitting in the vehicle eating ice cream, someone hit the vehicle as they tried to pull into the parking space beside us. I am having trouble thinking and I DO feel alone!

God’s promises in His Word are all the assurance I need. And reflection upon the past – support from His flock which sustained, when moments seemed unbearable.
Lots of little things just didn’t go as smoothly as they could have today – and I was easily frustrated by dinner time. All small nuisances, but feeling collectively a bit out of sorts. But, He too, is in these inconveniences, and I am wondering what He is wanting me to see in these.
A walk in 60 degree weather last evening after dinner and now it is snowing sideways and the wind is howling. Gotta love March. May be single digits this evening.
My doubles partner booked airline flights today and I booked a little cottage a half block from the beach and 2 miles from the tennis center where the tournament will take place. It was a fair amount more than the hotel, but couldn’t pass up the privacy of two bedrooms and being so close to the beach. Plus we will have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer in the cottage. Pluses not at the hotel. I am grateful to be able to do this “upgrade”.
Julie – I pray conversations with your lawyer will go well and that you will feel prepared for what takes place on Thursday. If possible, focus on what you can control.
