New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We show spiritual apathy by ignoring the material conditions of the poor among us, the disproportionate number of communities who do not have access to basic needs like health care and clean water. We participate in the degradation of our planet. We remain silent on issues of social justice, racism, gender-based violence, mental health, immigration, violence, and war.

Before we can move forward, we must acknowledge our complicity and contribution to the harm. We must confess these sins, and many more than can be named here, in order to begin to rebuild our relationship with God.

Today’s Scripture

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confession, acknowledgement of our sins, opens the door to repent, turn away from wrong doing and leads us to God who forgives us, restores us, sets us on the path to righteousness. For God love us while we were still sinners. Thank You. Lord for the Love that covers all transgressions, for Jesus who paid the price of our sin and presents us whole before You. In Jesus precious name I pray and give thanks. Amen.
