New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Beyond the interpersonal, we long for a new reign of peace and civility where disagreements and challenges become opportunities for new partnerships and for considering the welfare of those without power or voice. We long for wars to cease, weapons to be laid down, and every land mine to be safely plucked up and destroyed before it harms another child at play. We long for all to be fed, that in God’s world of abundance, we learn to share. We long for creation to be cherished, rivers and streams to be clear, the air to be breathable.

So many longings. Come, thou long-expected Jesus, touch our longings with the hope of a new day.

—Larry J. Peacock, The Living Nativity: Preparing for Christmas with Saint Francis (Upper Room Books, 2018)

Psalm 29:11- May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!

I long for all the above, and then church unity, not just in the United Methodist Church, but all Christianity. Common sense, fairness, justice, and peace in my country and the whole world. A serious effort to address climate change, God tasked us to care for all creation. Resolution to family and friend disagreements. May all these happen with God’s wisdom and design.

Thankful for a beautiful day, a nice drive this morning, some special baked goods for dessert, and more progress on a steam locomotive. Church tonight.
I pray everyone accepts the precious gift God offers as we remember the birth of God’s only begotten son.

May this day and evening be a blessed one for all who come to the UR. You are in my prayers. Thank You, Lord.

I am longing for peace in my life as I go about the days. I got news today that my beloved Aunt had passed away. She is with Jesus and loved ones now, but her husband and son are in deep grief. Send the Comforter, Lord, as you have promised your flock.
Yesterday I looked out and there was a deep, deep pink and above it a light blue sky as the sun rose. Thank you Jesus.
May 2020 bless my UR friends with all that they need. (Marcy)

I am longing to be justified and to have my children returned into my arms. I am longing for 2020 to be the year of freedom’s introduction into my life. TO BE FREE.

I am longing for the Comforter to hold my family today. I am longing for the ache to pass away and for more joy with the memories. I am longing for God to fill dad’s emptiness with His peace.
Dad, my sister and her husband are coming to breakfast at my house this morning. A new tradition. Later in the afternoon we will gather at my mom’s sister’s house – our regular tradition. It will be good for dad to be surrounded by his grandsons and his great grandchildren.
I was able to continue my Christmas Eve tradition last night with my friend and god children. I am grateful.
Joyous Christmas blessings and peace to the UR family.
