Today’s Reflection
Older adults have much to teach us. Our learning is not only about aging and the aging process, but about life and faith. And about trusting a God of mystery.
—Richard H. Gentzler, Jr., An Age of Opportunity: Intentional Ministry by, with, and for Older Adults (Discipleship Resources, 2018)

What wisdom have you gained by spending time with an older adult? I am sure that I have gained by soendung time with an older adult, I do it quite regularly. Identifying the wisdom is a harder task. Never give up, trust God, be in relationship with God, believe, come first to mind. What wisdom can you share with a younger adult? I think the same wisdom can be shared with a younger adult. My son is doing well with not giving up, trusting and believing in God is very difficult for him.
The damofentsafter goes to work today as we prepare to make apple jelly. Have lots of apples and more will be made than jelly. November 3rd is ALL THINGS APPLE at CCUMC. Thank You, Lord
Until recently, with my friendship with my tennis friend, I would say I have not had any close friendships with anyone my age. My friend with whom I travel and do a book study is 17 years my senior. When I was experiencing my spiritual growth spurt, God placed her in my life and she has been a wonderful mentor in so many ways. We had much in common – teaching, enjoying being active and traveling, and spirituality. But, we are also quite different. Through it all, after 20 years, she is a trusted friend. My best friend, the mother of my god children, is 8 years younger than I. I started off as a teacher, coach and mentor to her. Now – our bond is unbreakable. She inspires me by how fiercely she loves and she trusts my consistent presence and honesty. She has seen what I have been through with my mom. Right now, her relationship with her mom is not the best – and I try to encourage better connection – but it isn’t happening. I want to support her well…sometimes I am uncertain about what to say.
Fun times with my local baseball team in the playoffs. Won’t likely make it to the end of the game this evening, but will begin watching it.
A busy few days ahead. Grateful to be home after school, fix a nice meal with leftovers for the week and relaxing with my kittens for the evening.
