New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As fundraisers, we must take care of the being part of our lives. This means knowing who we are, knowing our value—no matter what we achieve or don’t achieve. It means having clear values and increasing our self-awareness as we engage people from various walks of life. The journey of fundraising holds unique challenges, and we easily can stumble along the path or get discouraged if we are not grounded in our being—that is, who we most deeply are.

Today’s Scripture

Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.

Being in His Word and talking about it with others, including my small group. Also, my daily time in the morning “sets the table” for the day. Realizing that my time spent with dad and serving him is pleasing to my Heavenly Father. Accepting this role.
Oh the gray, damp days of late Fall in Ohio. Yesterday was supposed to be a brief respite, but only saw the sun for about 45 minutes. I did get out to rake my yard after dinner, as more rain was on the way. A real soaker today, already.
My sister and her husband left for Florida yesterday. They will be back in time for Thanksgiving. Dad had been going over to dinner once a week at their house. The past month or so – they had to eat indoors. I think I will ask dad if he wants to come over to my house for dinner…maybe we could eat in separate rooms, but be together with masks on when not eating. I don’t know…I am concerned about him becoming more isolated. He’s such a social person.

Spiritual practices not only connect us to God, but help us to see who we are in Christ. Paul exhorts the church at Thessalonica to rejoice always and to pray without ceasing. I think this means to approach all tasks prayerfully and as joyfully as we can. I don’t always measure up, but am thankful for God’s grace. In may daily prayer time, I ask God to help me see myself as God sees me. As I read scripture each day, I ask God to illuminate it. An area in which I struggle are finances. I’m working on managing my money better so that I can be a better steward of what God has given me. I ask the Holy Spirit to help me discern. I try to be open to what Holy Spirit places on my heart.
My cardiologist appointment is today. Prayers are appreciated. I ask the Lord to help me trust.
Jill, we are expecting a soaker here in Georgia from the remnant of Zeta. We need the rain, so I won’t complain. I pray for you as you in your role as daughter as minister to Larry. I pray that there will be opportunities to minister to him. Prayers for Julie and Megan as they navigate the process of divorce from H, finances, and safety. Prayers that Marcy remains migraine-free and that she and Roxy remain safe. Prayers for Robert and giving thanks for meaningful leisure time. Praying with him that his children will open their hearts to God. Prayers for our other regulars, that they stay safe and find practices show them who God is and that they see themselves as our Lord sees them. Thank You God, for this day. Be safe, everyone.

This question stumps me as I have had pounded into my brain and soul since I was born that I am worthless. Since reading the Bible and the UR Devotionals and New Every Mornings I know intellectually that I have worth because God created me and calls me his child and Jesus calls me his sibling. But my heart and soul remain mired in the world.
Prayers for Jill and I commiserate with you. It is drab and dreary here as well and we saw no sun yestaerday and will also have a soaker today. The meteoroligist reminds us that it is needed because we are having a draught. I also commiserate with you regarding what level of riskk to take to remain social and connect with family. I am wondering and worried about Thanksgiving. I have not seen my mom since the summer and after her fall, surgery and rehab I am eager to reunite with her. But we have Thanksgiving with extended family. It is a small number but I worry. Also Megan has an annual friendsgiving with her best friends. They have people from out of state coming and she looks forward to this every year and said she will not miss this year. I know they will not socailly distance or wear masks and I am helpless to change her mnd or actions. She is 28 and obviously will do as she pleases.
Prayers for Ally and David, may the wound center help David’s bedsore heal and may Ally get clearance to have catact surgery.
Prayers for Marcy and Lucy, I pray Marcy is well enough to receive her Botox shots.
Prayers for Robert and his busy days, I am in awe of his energy.
Prayers for April, I will continue to pray for you and your malaise. I am unsure if it is faith related only or physical or even emotional. I pray you remain connected if only through reading our entries.

We can easily stumble along the path and get discouraged as the author points out- reading scripture and listening to uplifting spiritual music reminds me of the truth, the way, and the life. It has been awhile since I posted – thank you for your continued prayers – I continue to read and pray for you all- just have less to say these days I guess feeling a little weary from the world. It’s at times like these though that I should join in more. My children are all doing ok and all are working/attending school – I thank God for this blessing everyday. God is with us. I also have not seen my mother since last March. I talk to her frequently and we email daily but I sure would love to see her and hug her. I read recently where the elderly are dying of loneliness – please make it a point to reach out to the elderly in your community if you can in any way.
I feel that recently I have immersed myself in my work and little else. That is isolating too and I need to work on connecting more with others. I joined an online book group but am struggling to attend.
I am blessed that I get to see my son every weekend however as more restrictions are being put in place in Chicago again as the rates rise I wonder if that is a safe thing to do. Please stay safe UR family- I pray for you all. God be with you.

I find it hard to determine my value, for sure, God knows what is. The ministries of church, my response to them, and prayers sustain me.
Glad for a not so busy day. Have a few catch up activities to do. Glad the New Every Morning came today. I had to search for it yesterday, found it, and posted, but much later than usual.
One of my World Vision children’s village has met its objectives and a new child in a new town will take his place. With all the not so good news these days, that surely is a reason to rejoice.
Getting together with family is a great blessing, each of us had our own ways of doing that under the pandemic guidelines, being safe comes first. Physical, emotional, spiritual, and reasoning safety are all important. Thankful that God helps us with all of these and we as ministers provide it to each other as God guides us. Thank you for being God’s hands. You are all in my prayers. Thank You, Lord.
