New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

A note from the author: “Celtic Christians acknowledged God’s presence in every aspect of living—from waking to sleeping, from birth to death, from mundane chores to momentous celebrations. They perceived God’s creation as a holy gift. Gratitude characterized their way of being as they affirmed the source of life and gave thanks through blessings.”

With grateful thanks
We receive the bounty of this earth.

Giver of plenty,
You are the source of
Plants and meat,
Milk and herbs,
Clean water and safe homes.

Bless this harvest,
Its beautiful colors.

Bless this bounty,
Its nourishing substance.

Bless the livestock
And those who keep them.

Bless the farmers, the workers,
The gleaners, far and near.

Bless the hungry,
Those who have no homes,
Those displaced by drought or violence.

Give succor to the people in their need.
Bless this world and all its creatures.

All that we are,
All that we have,
Are gifts of your creation.

Intentionality will assure I am being grateful. As I spend time tending my flower beds and working in my yard – I will have bountiful, simple opportunities to slip into gratitude.
Dad and I are to golf in an outing today, to raise money for my school’s athletic department. The weather is not looking overly promising – so we will see. It will be easy to grumble if we are golfing in the rain – but will try to be aware of this, and minimize it. Yesterday morning was a pristine morning, no humidity and very comfortable temperatures. We enjoyed lunch at a BBQ restaurant, eating outside on the patio.
I continue to wrestle with wallpaper and its glue, in my bedroom. Steady wins the race, and I keep at it. There is no rushing the process – so I tarry on. Roger, surprisingly, is staying out of the mess.
In the spirit of gratitude I give thanks for this space, the creators of it and those who share.

I give thanks in the morning and before I go to sleep. It always amazes me the blessings that have been given. Thankful that the last decal needed for the combine is on its way. Very soon the combine will be finished. Next will be finishing a caboose. Lots of tiny little parts that need to be installed. The Bible study on the will of God has man more facets than I realized, Have heard from my previous church, there’s a new pastor, outdoor and ZOOM worship. Thankful for cooler, especially at night, weather and less humidity. Tasty cherry tomatoes from our plant. Prayers for the sick, the survivors, care givers, and those wrestling with a vaccine. May God’s wisdom come to those sent to care for this country. Great concern for school opening that has students together. I advocate for improved distant learning. Safety first. Prayers for those who usually or more often post, but also for those whose identity I do not know. We all need God and thankfully God is there for everyone. It is one of the most equal conditions we can experience. Thank You, Lord. Thankful a rehabilitated prisoner has been set free. Resources continue during a pandemic. Thank You, Lord. Negative COVID tests for Anneliese, the brother of a long time friend, and her daughter’s family.

I will try not to destroy or damage any of creation today if I can help it.

I asked God today to help me to be mindful of God’s blessings and not forget to express my thankfulness to God. God’s blessings to David and me are many. I tend to get caught up in the mundane and weighed down by all that I feel I must accomplish each day. I forget to breathe and to see blessings as holy gifts. Loving Lord, help me to be mindful each day of Your many blessings and see them as holy gifts. Amen.
Jill, I pray for good weather for your and Larry’s golf outing. Praying that people will be generous with their contributions for your school. Robert, im thankful that Anneliese’s and your other friends’ COVID tests were negative. Praise the Lord. Julie, thanks so much for praying for David and me. Know that’ your situation is on our minds and in our prayers. It was great to see updates from Rick and BJ. April, you posted some beautiful thoughts a few days ago Thank you. Praying that Marcy is well. Martin, thank you for your care of the earth. May all of us work for peace and justice today. Blessings to all.
