Today’s Reflection
Leader: Prepare the way, cause God’s gonna do it!
People: Every valley gonna be filled, and every mountain and hill gonna
be made low, and the crooked gonna be made straight, and the rough
ways gonna be made smooth.
Leader: We’re all gonna see it!
People: God’s gonna do it!
—Tony Peterson, “God’s Gonna Do It!” in The Africana Worship Book (Year C), edited by Valerie Bridgeman Davis and Safiyah Fosua (Discipleship Resources, 2008)

Today’s Scripture
Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.

Prayer for the Week
Almighty God, speak to us today as you spoke to those who went before us. Tell us the stories of Your wonders and greatness. We are ready to hear them. Remind us once again of your grace and love. Help us teach your goodness to our children and the next generation. Amen. [prayer adapted from “Worship Resources for Juneteenth Day Celebrations” in The Africana Worship Book (Year C)]

I’m praying for peace in the world.
A future for my son, peace where there is war, food where there is hunger, homes for the homeless, and healing for the sick. Thank You, Lord.
A miracle financial blessing
It is good to be here with my friends. Needed this today. The readings this week have been uplifting and comforting. Today’s litany is full of hope and trust in the Lord. What do I pray for? Like Mark and Robert, I pray for peace. Today I am discouraged. Like the OT scripture readings from Kings and the Psalms, I am asking, “where is God?” I will try to proclaim, “God’s gonna do it”. Praying for peace. Praying for justice. Praying for good sense, compassion , and empathy to reign over chaos and cruelty. May it be so, Lord.
