New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

There is no fear, no loss, no grief, no loneliness, no despair, no addiction, no desolation, no suffering that God does not share in. God is continually present and reaching out to us in whatever we may be going through at this moment. When we know that God is with us, even when our world is falling apart, we are more able to face the pain of situations with hope and courage.

—Trevor Hudson, The Serenity Prayer: A Simple Prayer to Enrich Your Life (Upper Room Books, 2012)

Today’s Scripture

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
—Psalm 23:4 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

God of peace, meet us in this moment — in our grief, in our striving, in our questions, and in our quiet hopes. Teach us to live fully and faithfully, trusting that you walk with us through every valley. Help us slow down, open our hearts, and find courage in your unwavering love. Amen.

I worry less. live in the present, yes, I do plan and prepare for the future, but am at ease in doing so. The tempo of some things I can not change, I have to work with the tempo, glad that resources come regularly making many things possible. Thank You, Lord.

When I am suffering, I try not to focus on myself and my pain and instead remember the extreme pain Jesus endured for me and my sins. I reach out to God, as Jesus did, asking for his support and strength.
A multitude of small delights constitute happiness.
