New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Especially when there is so much negativity and stress, and we are overwhelmed by all that’s going on in the world, we need to hear the good news over and over and over again. We need to
hear the story of God’s salvation, grace, mercy, and compassion. We need to be reminded that there’s a God who is bigger than whatever I’m going through, who hears and sees and knows my
struggle. God’s got me. God’s going to give me what I need.

—Junius B. Dotson, Soul Reset: Breakdown, Breakthrough, and the Journey to Wholeness (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Reflections like today’s, fellowship with believers, walks in the woos, worship and Bible-book study are among the things that keep me going. Plans for Communion this Sunday are set.
Expecting -17 during the day and over the next couple days. Reminds me of growing up in northwest VT 10 miles from Canada on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain.
Hope all of you are safe and warm. No everyone handles the cold well, just as some of us don’t do so well in the heat. Fellowship time starts in 2 minutes.

Scripture, daily devotions and those here help me remember that God is always with us and bigger than anything we can face. Bitter cold in Chicago today but a lot warmer tomorrow – so just waiting on that. Prayers for all who come here and for those without adequate shelter on these bitter days. Peace to all.

Sunrises and sunsets, mountain vistas, the night sky, thunderstorms…
When it gets this cold and we all stay in our homes and huddle together, everything seems small. It is cold here but not as cold as you are Robert. Everything is so quiet and still. So glad I did the grocery shopping yesterday. Yes, stay wam everyone.

Will offer to warming shelter at CCUMC tonight. Have volunteers to keep watch.
Had a nice walk on the groomed trails of Th Mountain Conservation. Wind was the bigger factor than cold. Certainly plenty of fresh air.
May all needing warm shelter find it. Thank You, Lord.
