Today’s Reflection
Putting the story of the world into the story of God is central to the work of ministry. In this sense, it is to tell a better story, indeed, a story that confronts the principalities and powers where God bats last.

Today’s Question
How can you participate in telling a “better story” that reflects God’s justice, mercy, and love? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
For in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers — all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
—Colossians 1:16-17 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
Gracious God, shape us through the small daily practices that draw us closer to you and to one another. Mold our hearts for justice, our hands for service, and our lives for love. May we be transformed by your spirit so that in every act, no matter how small, we reflect your kingdom on earth. Amen.
Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

While at first the sound of god batting last is unappealing, in reality God bats cleanup. Where we fail only rarely 400, more often our best is 300, God bats 1000 everytime. Thank You, Lord.
Petitions daily and protests as often as i can are my effort for justice. Prayers to help keep on the straight and narrow. Worship and Communion tomorrow. Thank You, Lord.
Yesterday I attended a conference entitled Guided by Grace. It was intended to be both informative and restorative to people in positions of guiding others through transitions. There were pastors, educators, health care workers, counselors, and a variety of others there. Probably around 75 or so. The worship was poignant and the speakers did a wonderful job of talking about various kinds of trauma, how to come along side someone, the necessity of keeping ourselves attached to the vine. The ladies at my table were congenial and humble.
The week at school flew by as I was so busy purging things, taking time to speak with and console students – especially my Year 1 students who anticipated me being there next year. I sat in on interviews for my replacements in the classroom and had to begin closing things down in the treasurer’s office. Next week will begin training of the next treasurer.
“God batting last” – what a comfort. He will clean up all my mistakes, and yes – Robert, He surely bats a thousand. This helps me to move forward with confidence.
Hope & pray that my deeds and actions are consistent with the verbal story that I tell , that my actions reflect the justice, mercy & love of God.
There is nothing stronger in the world than gentleness. Han Suyin
