New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Following Jesus does not mean holding in our imagination the memory of someone who lived two thousand years ago and trying to apply his teachings to our times. No, following Jesus means following the risen Lord, who is with us at this moment, drawing us more fully home into ever-deepening communion with God.

—Henri J. M. Nouwen, A Spirituality of Homecoming, edited by John S. Mogabgab (Upper Room Books, 2012)

Quiet Time with New Every Morning and worship drw me closer to God. Thank You ,Lord.
Communion in today’s worship does this too. Glad to be in church today.
No snow last night, clear and cold, the sun is up with moistly blue skies.

Bible Study, especially with others, and daily devotions keep me grounded and in touch with the Christ that lives today. Also prayer and conversation with others. I couldn’t go on without all of this.

So good to have so much input on yesterday’s post. Marcie – what a blessing to hear from you and to know God is sustaining you. We must trust during these troubling times – that His mercies are sufficient and He will provide. We must cling to Him being a WayMaker.
The book I am reading with a friend is very deep. What I have been reading this morning – I must pause often – and carefully consider what is being said, how I can appropriately receive it and allow it to better draw me more fully into His presence and thus be quicker to obey and take Him out into my little corner of the world He has specifically placed me. (OK, I just realized that was a crazy long run on sentence). But – it is good to take time – to ponder and ask Him to indeed search my heart and lead me…lead me to what and where and who He intends.
Attended my god son’s tourney game last evening – and they won. Not necessarily the prettiest game – the other team played very physical and the refs struggled to call the game. We are now headed to regionals – Tuesday evening. It is 2 hours away – I will go after school. Fortunately it is the first of 2 games that evening at the site – so it won’t be a super long evening.
Today is busy…church, cancer support group, tennis and dinner set-up, service and clean up at the shelter. Grateful for yesterday afternoon at home to relax, nap and complete a bit of schoolwork.
As we enter the Lenten season – may we be led along with Christ – considering His great sacrifice and His diligence in doing His Father’s will.

Jill, I wanted to ask you about your cancer support group. In church today I was told that there is a lot of interest in our congregation to have such a group. I facilitate a Griefshare group but, which has a lot of structure. I’m wondering if your cancer support group is structured in some way or just those needing support to meet and talk/share?

Centering prayer, pondering scripture in my heart, music, the means of Grace like Holy Communion, asking God to make me aware of God’s presence, knowing God is with me, even when I feel disconnected and far away.
Jill, what is the name of your book? Yes, truly wonderful to hear from Marcie!
It has been almost 5 years since I joined with our community. Your support and love has been a constant. May the Lord bless all who come here.

Grace Upon Grace. My friend is now attending a Lutheran church and has immersed herself in learning about it. I believe the book is written by a Lutheran pastor. It is an older book.

Routines draw me closer to God. I have time set aside for being with God. What I read and do in that time may change from day to day, but I have designated this time to being with God. The scriptures I read, the comments posted here on NEM, the birds that sing all speak to me about God’s presence in our world. The word ther day there was a picture of a tree that had abundant green leaves on one side and not the other. It reminded me that small conditions on a daily basis result in major changes over time. I need daily time with God so that I can grow upright and symmetrical. I need to make changes when I learn new information. What has happened in the past cannot be changed, however each day I am given a new chance to become the person God wants me to be.
I pray for our NEM family and the strength I feel from our collective prayers for each other and our world. The fervent prays of a righteous man availith much.
    Blessing to all.
