New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Jesus seeks to restore personhood, not diminish it. The spiritual path he teaches empowers human dignity, emboldens abundant vitality, and cultivates a flourishing as radiant as the lilies of the field in full blossom. Jesus proclaims, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10, NRSVUE). Such restorative vitality flows from God’s abundant compassion.

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.
—John 1:3-4 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Lord, open our eyes that we may see you in our brothers and sisters.
Lord, open our ears that we may hear the cries of the hungry, the cold, the frightened, the oppressed.
Lord, open our hearts that we may love each other as you love us.
Renew in us your spirit.
Lord, free us and make us one. Amen

Beyond knowing that the spiritual path of Jesus keeps me going, I don’t know how to express this truth Spiritual truths are very hard to describe, put into words, they act in you without being seen.
Thank You, Lord. Belief, trust, acceptance, praise, and thanks all play a role

Recognizing the simplicity of His path – meeting others where they were, listening, speaking truth, always compassionate. His model is clear – love others, speak truth. He trusted His Father for strength. He took time to be alone with His Father.
Dad shot an 86 yesterday at golf, coming in under his age (90). He was so very excited. It is his goal each time out. Lately he has been really frustrated with his game, finishing in triple digits. This was so good for him. It was such a beautiful summer day. No heat, no humidity. Grateful to be with him while he played so well.
Tennis last evening was very enjoyable. Well worth the 45 minute drive. Pleasant ladies, good competition.
My long time doubles partner and I are traveling to Michigan today to try to qualify for the senior olympics next summer. I was at the beach when our state qualifying event was. We play tomorrow. Will take our time today, hit some balls, do some shopping, have dinner.
