New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Though journeying together is rich and powerful in its ability to sustain us in faith, belief, and hope, there is something to be said about discerning whom we invite to walk alongside us. Mary and Elizabeth were fitting for each other because they truly believed in God’s ability to move beyond their understanding. They shared a similar faith imagination that could hold mystery and divine possibility in the face of what the world would call impossible.

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

“Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
—Luke 1:36-38 (NRSVUE)

Thank you for your note Julie. I pray for healing .
Our pastor and other clergy have taken a trip to the Holy Lands to support those there. The pictures and conversations that he has with those living there relate the hope they have that peace will come soon. They believe in divine intervention as they are living through tough times. Mary and Joseph were living in tough times also. They obeyed. I feel that Mary believed in divine intervention from her response and role in being the Mother of Jesus.
Thank you Lord for those who demonstrate their faith in divine intervention.
