Today’s Reflection
Though journeying together is rich and powerful in its ability to sustain us in faith, belief, and hope, there is something to be said about discerning whom we invite to walk alongside us. Mary and Elizabeth were fitting for each other because they truly believed in God’s ability to move beyond their understanding. They shared a similar faith imagination that could hold mystery and divine possibility in the face of what the world would call impossible.

Today’s Scripture
“Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
—Luke 1:36-38 (NRSV)

All of you here.
I just received a notice from a job tool I use that my eye doctor is hiring and I quickly applied. Now I ask you to please pray for this opportunity as well as the credit union job. I am contemplating calling the doctor’s office.
Prayers for Ally and David and Jeremy, for health, finances and disability claim concerns. Prayers for Jill, Larry and Roger, for hexam, health and anxiety concerns. Prayers for Lou and her family and Gail and her family and Marti and her staff. Prayers for Robert and Erich, for church laity, anxiety and uncertain futures concerns.
Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.
My wonderful friend who I do book studies with, as well as my tennis friend who introduced me to her church, and her best friend who had the same diagnosis as I did. My co-sufferer shows me how to rely on God, His strength – until He replenishes our own.
Not great news from the dentist chair yesterday…need a filling replaced, as well as a crown on a different tooth. I told the dentist he wasn’t full of much holiday cheer. But – I am grateful to have such good care available to me, with pretty good insurance as well. Will start the process in mid January.
One student making up an exam. I have graded four of my classes exams with only one class remaining. I may be able to finish it before I leave today. It will feel great to walk out of the building with no papers in my school bag.
Have my god son’s basketball game this evening and then a 60th birthday for one of my tennis friends – her husband is throwing a Disco Ball Birthday Bash. I will arrive a bit late, but sure all the festivities will still be under way.
My best friend and I are playing in a tennis tournament at her club this weekend. It is a 6.5 tournament – and that generally means a 3.5 pairs up with a 3.0 to play. But I am a 4.0 and she is a 2.5. So a bit unorthodox, but we are excited to play. We subbed in a league the season mom passed – we only played twice together, but it was fun.
My friend and prayer partner Maria, is open to possibilities and in tune with the Holy Spirit when I’m doubting. I thank God for her friendship and ministry to her community. We speak and text often, but I have not seen her since before the pandemic.
David has felt well and went with me to run errands today. A friend brought us some homemade fudge. It tastes like my mama’s, which she always made at Christmas. Praising God for the kindness of others.
Julie, lifting your job opportunities up in prayer. Jill, praying you get a lot of rest during b your break and enjoy the tennis. Prayers for your dental work. And prayers continue for little Roger. Praying things are well with Robert. Prayers for peace on earth. Blessings to all.
