Today’s Reflection
To me, this is the essence of our church—a place where everyone, regardless of their age, race, sexuality, or life story, is seen, heard, valued, and empowered. Here, we understand God through our shared and individual experiences, through the rhythm of our everyday lives.
—Juan Pablo Herrera, “Innovation,” in Where We Meet: A Lenten Study of Systems, Stories, and Hope (Upper Room Books, 2023)

To be “seen, heard, valued, and empowered” in my faith community means to be loved as Christ loves, always and unconditionally. I believe every community of faith aspires to this, but on its own can not accomplish the task, God’s love, mercy, and grace are needed. Thank You, Lord, for Your ever presence.
This is my faith community. I and many others have stated that they came from other churches but have stayed at my church because everyone is so friendly. We have different nationalities, colors and sexual orientations represented. We accept, embrace and welcome everyone.
This statement is so true of our faith community. Everyone is seen, heard, valued, and empowered. All humans are invited to come, eat (boy, do we eat!), pray, worship, love, and take part in every aspect of the life of the church. I am thankful to God that our church puts on love, as Paul exhorted in his letter to the Colossians. Bless are all who come in the name of the Lord. Hosannah.
We had a beautiful service of worship and Holy Communion yesterday as we celebrated Palm Sunday. Some came to sing, some came to pray, some came to chase the dark away. Looking forward to our service of Tenebrae on Friday night. Sunday’s comin, y’all!
