New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We are made in the image of God (see Genesis 1:26-27); therefore, God must have emotions and has designed us with the capacity to have and feel them as well. That was new to me . . . the idea that God created us with the capacity to feel things like anger, resentment, contempt, disgust, or bitterness. The question is what we do with those emotions. While indulging and wallowing in them is detrimental, another option is that they have something to teach us.

Today’s Scripture

Be angry without sinning. Don’t let the sun set on your anger.

Prayer for the Week

God, help me let go of my desire to hustle for security, affection, and control. Help me let go of my desire to change this feeling, sensation, or situation. May I learn to welcome what is. Amen. [prayer adapted from What Loss Can Teach Us by Beth Taulman Miller]

I feel concerned, I had a dream of a boy needing medical attention. There was a package of medicine to help him. Caring for other people is the lesson from this emotion. Thank You, Lord.

After many sunny days, now it’s raining, two more rainy days are in the forecast. Glad the deck is all done.

Pain and loss can strip away the fakeness. What I’m feeling now: grief for my friend who has died. Tiredness(is that an emotion?). Grief teaches thankfulness for the person we grieve. The tiredness teaches me I need to stop and examine. To stop and let God show me some things.

Resignation, in a situation that is not ideal or even healthy but which I have no viable option. Resolved, in that to protect myself I have limited communication with the individual. Excitement, because the bathrooms are currently being upgraded.

Feeling anxious and overwhelmed – a big project happening at my house that was supposed to be done – I have to leave to help my mom- driving alone which I don’t like. But I pray God will be with me and the house project will continue without me to oversee. One day at a time is what I pray and I have to trust in the Lord and lean on Him. Living life alone has made me face many things – I’ve learned to jut out one foot in front of the other and keep going –
Special prayers for you Ally – for rest and relief.
Prayers for all who come to this space today-
