New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

[The Examen] invites us to review the specific events of our day and prayerfully reflect on where we felt more connected or less connected to God. . . .  The Examen includes these four steps:

1. Emmanuel—“God with us.” Begin by remembering that God is with you always. Give thanks for the assurance of God’s constant presence.

2. Gratitude. . . . Celebrate the moments when you felt most connected to God. Express gratitude for these sacred moments, and offer God these simple words: thank you.

3. Growth. . . . Prayerfully reflect on the times when you felt less connected with God. . . . Offer them to God with these powerful words: I’m sorry.

4. Hope. . . . Look ahead to the specific events planned for the day to come. Invite God to walk through the day with you.

Today’s Scripture

In [God] we live and move and have our being.

Prayer for the Week

Gracious God
whose love encircles all,
You are the one in whom I live
and move and have my being.
Thank you for the moments
when I see you most clearly.
I am sorry for the times I have turned away
from your loving presence.
With hope I look toward the new day to come,
heart aflame with your love and grace.
I am grateful that you are with me
every moment of every day.
Amen.

Tried, but couldn’t post yesterday. Very much appreciate the Examen. I think two parts are best for me: growth and hope. I’m trying to help resolve issues that will enable progress. Slowly gettying better from this cold, it will be Zoom worship today. Very thankful that is possible. Thank You, Lord.
One of the very best books I’ve read helping to understand Jesus is Adam Hamilton’s, “The Message of Jesus.” A blessing to and for all.

Looking forward, with Him – and inviting Him into my day, my moments…seeking His leading, provision and strength. And – in this – is what is mentioned in the first step – God with me. Immanuel.
Church this morning was quite excellent. Music matching so well with the message and tone. Praising God with others has become much more significant to me.
Tennis later this afternoon with friends – should be quite competitive. School work to do between now and then.
Thank You, Father – for Your Presence and for hearing us and accompanying us.

I plan to get the book to use at the next UWF meeting for spiritual growth.
