New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Of the Seven Deadly Sins, anger is possibly the most fun. To lick your wounds, to smack your lips over grievances long past, to roll over your tongue the prospect of bitter confrontations still to come, to savor to the last toothsome morsel both the pain you are given and the pain you are giving back—in many ways it is a feast fit for a king. The chief drawback is that what you are wolfing down is yourself. The skeleton at the feast is you.

—Frederick Buechner, “Anger,” in Anger: Minding Your Passion, compiled by Amy Lyles Wilson (Fresh Air Books, 2010)

Today’s Scripture

Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
—Galatians 6:7-8 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Almighty God, search me and know me. Shine a light on my innermost thoughts and feelings, even those I try to hide. Give me courage to name the sources of my anger and wisdom to learn from them. Amen.

Email link to comment page screwed up.
This is not at all how I experience anger. I have a lot of disappointment in and disrespect of h. I see him as a very flawed human being. He did not know the Lord, nor did he want to. This was reflected in his actions and attitudes. He was definitely a person ruled by Satan.
