New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I’m stopping to listen more deeply, to give pause to what feels like a prayer, asking Jesus to abide with me, stay with me, as the disciples on the road to Emmaus ask, “Stay with us, because it is almost eve¬ning and the day is now nearly over” (Luke 24:29). I am drawn to this prayer because it isn’t focused on how I can or should abide with Jesus (although he asks that I do). There’s nothing I must do to earn the presence of the Christ or the grace of knowing God. Rather, this message tells me that Jesus comes to me and abides with me even when I fail to recognize him. In my ordinary life and in my persistent weaknesses, even when it feels like evening, as darkness deepens during times of sorrow, there is the abiding Christ.

Having Jesus abide with me, just as God is ever present, is indeed a great blessing.. I’m reminded this morning that God loves everyone. the question is; Do we accept God’s love, do we love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and do we love our neighbors as ourselves?
I am very grateful for the wonderful news from General Conference regarding our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters, In my view, this is a long awaited 2000+ years correction . We are to love as God loves, not just some but everyone. Thank You, Lord, for Your wisdom.
A new ticket has been created to try and end “awaiting moderation.”

I love this thought. And it has been realer for me this week, than in a while.
Becky and I are cancelling our trip out west this summer…we just don’t feel comfortable being “off the grid” and Don not being able to reach us if something should happen with dad. Him falling twice in a span of five weeks is concerning. He is always in a rush and just seems very intense. We are going to have to tell him we are not going and we are bracing for his reaction. We just can’t believe how…what is the right word…myopic (as opposed to selfish) he has become. He seems to only consider himself. And how to express this gently – well – I am in and out of prayer throughout the day regarding this. He is going to be disgusted. He gets disgusted when Becky does simple little things to make things easier on him. We never saw this coming…
Some beautiful days here lately, although this weekend is looking quite rainy. Had plans for tennis outside Sunday, but we secured an indoor court so we can still play. My nephew and his wife are picking up BBQ tomorrow evening and coming by to eat and watch playoff basketball.
School has gotten so much simpler. April was very intense and now it is blessedly slow. Today I gave a test, took a walk in the gym and got to see yesterday’s exams. I feel like they were pretty fair. I will see today’s tomorrow. 24 hour wait period. My students will want to look at the answer key I make out. I am anxious to get their reactions.
