New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Your children can always take more than you can give and will always need more than you have, so know when to wave the white flag and ask for help. Each person’s “tells” are unique. Ask for time for yourself before you are at the end of your rope. Only we know what diminishes the divine spark we carry within us.

Ah, sneaky Robert, you know now to wait and I will faithfully post!
I guess I will break this down as the author mostly means pursuits that are separate from our spiritual practices. I use exercise, time with kitties, reading and even watching TV. “The Price is Right” is such a fun and upbeat show that I enjoy this mindless exercise in sheer revelry. Even the losers are happy and upbeat. Which leads me to my spiritual practices as we are to be thankful even in times of darkness. I read the Bible and devotionals and visit this site to commune with a wonderful group of Christian mentors.
My mom had her operation yesterday. She texted me in the afternoon to say she was ok and I have heard nothing since. This speaks louder than words about our relationship. Ah, moms…
Prayers for Ally’s job quest and David’s health after a recent development of new issues.
Prayers for Jill and Larry and their future of golf and meals together, may they continue to grow closer and share sorrow and memories.
Prayers for Lou and her children. Prayers for Lou’s travels to be safe, for her youngest daughter to do well in her year end school work and her son to work through the issues in his relationship and job.
Prayers for Robert and Erich, may they grow more understanding of one another through counseling and working on their new table.
    Prayers dear UR

The readings of yesterday and today make me think of my best friend, the mother of my god children. She gives and gives and gives, and somehow finds herself replenished sufficiently to do it all over again. I can’t grasp parenthood, and the sacrifices required. I admire her and try to continually encourage her. She has been a pharmaceutical rep for several years now and had her territory expanded over a year ago. Now, mostly out of the pandemic from her work perspective, she logs a crazy amount of time and miles in her car. And this past weekend, her family was in Indianapolis (about a 5 hour drive) for her son’s basketball tournament. So – 10 hours in the car, and then back in the car yesterday as she was on the outskirts of Pittsburgh and near Wheeling. We usually catch up on her way home and we celebrated together that once she got home last night, she wouldn’t have to leave the house. Her little space of sanity is her work out time in the evening, and then sitting on the couch with her son and their cat. I woke up this morning to a photo – when she went to say good night to her son – their cat was curled up with him on his bed.
My life-giving practices include my still time in the morning, and I suppose to some extent, my morning run. I listen to a sport’s podcast while running and know these activities allow me the mental space to be ready for the work day. After school, when I recognize I am past the point of no return (unable to appropriately concentrate enough to grade work) – it is me, the remote, the blanket and my cat. I suppose another life-giving practice is my conversation with my friend at the end of her work day. When we don’t connect, there is a noticeable void, especially if it is a day or two.
Students are remote today, due to voting. Teachers are at school, teaching online. A good change of pace I suppose. We are all running on fumes – and now are being asked to teach as part of a summer catch-up program. Details remain inconsistent at this time, so difficult to commit. Not the best time to ask us, but I understand the scrambling and the issues they are up against.
If it’s not raining after school, I am meeting dad at a local garden center where he and mom purchase their flowers each year. Someone mentioned that this Sunday is Mother’s Day. It wasn’t even on my radar. Maybe a good thing?

Not like me to be posting so late in the day, but, yes, I am glad to read your posts before writing mine. No a normal Tuesday here, not totally out of whack, but one of those days when frustration has a voice.I’m taking some action to try and help it, hopefully tomorrow’s trip to Portland ME will be helpful. Expecting rain, hope that doesn’t postpone the trip. Progress with Hebrews Bible study, the CV Brill car soldering, and few odds and ends at the grocery store. Hopefully better rested tonight. Thank You, Lord.

What are you simple, life-giving practices that tend your divine spark?
I find that if I take a short nap or a brisk walk, I am refreshed and ready to take on new thoughts and work. I have also noticed how being in the sunshine gives me such a mental lift, so much so that I have not missed a day for I can’t remember. No wonder many buildings have solariums where people sit and are healed by the sun.
I have been befriending a young mother who is having challenges. Today I took presents for her boys birthdays and some eggs. She was just thrilled to think that I had reached out to her. As I ponder life, it is about relationships…with God, fellow man, with ourselves. When I am in right relationship, I feel whole and like the person God wants me to be. It does not come naturally; I have been reading and listening to others as I discern ways to develop relationships. It comes down to me making changes, and then after I make a change, others are affected and might change too…that is what I am seeing…sometimes 😊)
Lifting everyone up and asking God’s blessings. But also spending more time relaxing in the presence of God and receiving His Blessings that He showers me with. It is hard to believe that God would do that for me, but He does because He loves me….and if He does it for me, He will certainly do it for you. Be Blessed UR Family.
