Today’s Reflection
Our truest home is next to the heartbeat of God. Not only in some distant heavenly future but right now. Our truest home is listening and responding to God’s heartbeat of love for us and for the world. But that’s not a destination we can choose and then assuredly plot our course to by adopting practices of prayer and ways of living that will propel us to our destination. As soon as it becomes a destination that we’re determined to reach by our own effort and ingenuity—our own bias for action—we’re headed in the wrong direction.

In your presence there is fullness of joy;

There have been times, sometimes quite long times, when I didn’t turn to God, didn’t make God the first priority. I’m sure I’m still not perfect in that commitment. I need Jesus and God’s mercy and grace to overcome my shortfallings or the goal will bever be reached. Thank You, Lord
Guide me in the leadership positions to which i have been selected. Before I am a leader of others, I am a follower of You. May You shine through me to them.
It is human nature to believe we have to “do” to achieve an outcome. We are also an impatient people who wish to control situations and relationships. We find surrender a foreign concept.
Some of my strengths – independence and logic – can give me a false sense of control and ownership. Learning about surrender, asking for awareness of the need for humility and surrender – God has been faithful in helping me to recognize the importance of these. My comfortability in auto-pilot can permit me to stray quickly. He always welcomes me back.
Dad and I began are summer weekday golfing today. A retired colleague joined us and it was a beautiful day.
This has happened too many times due to my wanting to do what I want to do. Fortunately, God helps me get out of the way. Thank You Lord, for Your grace.
David is better and has been working to stay hydrated. Unfortunately, he’s still having some balance issues. He was feeling well enough to try vacuuming. He lost his balance and took a spill while I was working today. He got himself up and agreed to do safe things if he wants to help. There are things he can do seated or using his walker, like folding clothes or doing dishes. He has resisted getting a Lifeline, but agreed today that he needs it.
Please pray for my sister Amy. She was laid off today. She had a great work from home job with excellent salary. This is her second layoff in a year and a half.
Gracious God, give us ears to hear and the grace to follow You.
