Today’s Reflection
Our truest home is next to the heartbeat of God. Not only in some distant heavenly future but right now. Our truest home is listening and responding to God’s heartbeat of love for us and for the world. But that’s not a destination we can choose and then assuredly plot our course to by adopting practices of prayer and ways of living that will propel us to our destination. As soon as it becomes a destination that we’re determined to reach by our own effort and ingenuity—our own bias for action—we’re headed in the wrong direction.

Today’s Question
When has spiritual growth felt like a destination you were determined to reach? When have you realized your effort was leading you in the wrong direction? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
—Psalm 16:11 (NRSV)
Prayer for the Week

It will be by God’s grace and Jesus’s redemption should I end up in heaven. I believe, and as God has enabled me, I have tried to fulfill God’s plan. I most certainly have not been 100% successful. Prayers for Blair Smith and Christine Lohrbach’s Dad. Blair passed away, Christine’s Dad is in a nursing home with Covid Prayers for Julie’s safety and health, Jill, her Dad, school, god children, and friends, Ally&David, their health and well-being, Roger and Jeremy, beloved pets with health issues. Thank You, Lord. for Your ever presence.
In my natural life, hard work and determination, along with God given ability has enabled me to reach most of my goals. Yet, The Gospel calls us to a new way of striving. I must intentionally lay down what has brought me “success” in the world, and draw near to The Source of true contentment. Spiritual growth is an ongoing process, not a destination. For me – I really needed to wrap my head around this life being a pilgrimage in a foreign land. We weren’t met to live satisfied in this world. Heaven and His Presence is what truly drives our hearts – and I desire for a stronger longing in that direction. It is coming, being developed – by His grace. I must be more and more dissatisfied with what the world offers here and continue to surrender to His molding of me for my future and final residence.
It has been pleasant to be out running these past two mornings. Again, it will come to a halt with the storm coming in and I will be back to the elliptical. It will be quite some time before I can run my usual routes, as the sidewalks are untravelable – and will only get worse in this storm.
We are assuming we will not have school the next two days, but waiting word. Until then, business as usual. I am reluctant to plan too far into next week – as I will have to update/change all due dates of anything I post on our platform.
Enjoyed my god son’s basketball game last evening. Stopped by dad’s on the way home – he finished my taxes. Stopped at the store to pick up some things, didn’t want to be out in the rain today after school. Ready to get home tonight and hunker down for a few days.
