New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I believe that God is continually guiding each of us toward forgiveness. God wants to mend our hearts that have been wounded in hurtful relationships and set us free to love without strings attached. I know that God has acted that way in my life, and I have come to believe that it is a general spiritual principle.

—Mary Lou Redding, in Forgiveness: Perspectives on Making Peace with Your Past, compiled and introduced by Amy Lyles Wilson (Fresh Air Books, 2008)

Today’s Question

Can you recall a hurtful relationship where God mended your heart and set you free to love without strings attached? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
—Ephesians 4:32 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

At the moment I don’t recall such a situation. I know of a situation where I hope this will one day occur. That will be a very blessed day.
The Faith After Doubt zoom session last night was good, not enough time to discuss, and there are many levels of discussion. If participants have read chapter 11 they didn’t let on. I think that is the potentially most surprising chapter thus far. It unveils a plan for the future.
My model is progressing, not sure it will be done for the convention, but it will go as it is on Thursday. A work in progress.
Lovely weather. it has hit the 40s a couple of nights, high 60s-mid 70s for highs. Some color in the leaves, but far from anything that might be remotely called “peak”.
Today is Chusok, Korean Harvest Moon, it used to be a very fun time of the year, now only a memory.Blesssings to all of you, had a counselor session this morning, and condo association meeting this evening. a busy day. Thank You, Lord.

I think my overall maturing, as well as my spiritual maturing gave me the ability, during the last 5-7 years of mom’s life – to accept her for who she was. Instead of trying to change her, I asked God to change me…to reduce my expectations and to love her for who she was and where she was at. I am grateful for those last several years which were free from much of the “words” we would spew at each other. God did a miracle in me and I am so grateful.
Things have turned Fall-ish in my neck of the woods. A gray, dreary day. I am going to try to go out for a quick walk this evening, before the rain starts back up. I think tomorrow will be a complete wash-out – so I am trying to muster the motivation to go out here in a bit.
    Roger is doing well.
Grateful to have no after school commitments this week, other than small group later tomorrow evening. That is always a blessing. And, while it isn’t the same as being in person, it is pretty nice to not have to leave the house.

Hello all, been reading the daily entries, but have been busy due to my sister visiting. She went home today and I miss her already. I’m pondering the questions from yesterday and today. I know forgiveness can set people free: both the forgiver and the forgivee. It is much on my mind this week, as David found out he will not be giving his daughter away at her wedding in November. His daughter’s mother has put lot of pressure on. Her current husband will give Emily away. David says he’s ok with it. I am not. This woman has harassed David for years. I cannot figure out why a woman would leave a man for another man who is wealthy and continue to shake down her ex and try to poison the minds of their children against him. David has provided for his children and we have sacraficed to do so. Please pray for us. I’m angry and bitter. I pray for y’all and hold your concerns close to my heart.
