New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Why is it so important that we are with God and God alone on the mountaintop? It’s important because it’s the place in which we can listen to the voice of the One who calls us the beloved. Jesus says to you and to me that we are loved as he is loved. That same voice is there for us. To pray is to let that voice speak to the center of our being and permeate our whole life.

Today’s Scripture

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
—Mark 1:35 (NIV)

Prayer for the Week

Dear God, We look to your Son Jesus as our example of a balanced life—solitude, community, and ministry. Help us to know our belovedness in you and to spread the message of your love. Amen.

This might not be quite the same as resting in the knowledge that God loves me, but I believe God is with us always.
A pleasant day yesterday, have the needed paint to finish the bedroom, grocery shopping done, more work on income tax.
Some errands this morning, hopeful it snows, Erich is planning to ski.
Prayers for travelers, the people of California, migrants and immigrants, all who are sick, need help of any kind, and attention by the Congress to the needs of the American people.
NEM is in my prayers of thanksgiving and concern. Thank You, Lord for always being with us.
