Today’s Reflection
Many of us, if not most of us in the church, have forgotten why we do what we do in the first place. We’ve forgotten that the message of Jesus is actually good news of freedom, hope, and possibility, not just more things to accomplish, programs to run, and busyness to get swept up in. Especially for pastors and church leaders, we get focused on numbers, budgets, growth, and programs because those are the “measurables.” But we forget that Jesus invited us into a life-changing relationship, a companionship meant to bring wholeness.

Today’s Question
When have you felt like “it’s all on you”? How can you and your faith community create a culture where the work is shared and no one has to feel that way? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
—John 3:17 (NIV)
Prayer for the Week
O God, I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My whole being longs for you as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. [prayer adapted from Psalm 63:1]

Sadly. there are always a few who carry most of the load, they are called leaders. We’ve tried to ease some of this by making our administration a simplified board model, called ALL IN ONE. Many of us wear more than one hat and meeting together like this has so far been very beneficial. SPRC is still a separate committee. Thank You, Lord, for wisdom and the time we took to create this .
I feel like my church does a good job of delegating, finding peoples strengths/gifts and they desire to serve. I think it is easy, especially for bigger churches, to fall prey to being “user friendly”. There are some things which should not be compromised.
Becky, dad and Don came over this afternoon – lots of cards, football, tennis and dinner. I take them to the airport tomorrow after church – and they will be in Florida until the middle of November.
Invited to a tennis teammates pool party tomorrow after I drop of my family at the airport. Weather looks perfect. Not sure if this is a tennis pool party of a more general party. Should be nice though.
