New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Liberating God, who desires people of all nations to live in freedom, you have called us here by your Love. Thank you for dwelling among us. We gather corporately to declare the wonders of your hands. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us. Let our lives glorify your Holy name. Anoint our worship; consecrate us for your service. Allow us to see your face and live so that our lives will reflect your image of perfect love!

—Stacey Cole Wilson, “We Come to Thank You,” in The Africana Worship Book (Year C), edited by Valerie Bridgeman Davis and Safiyah Fosua (Discipleship Resources, 2008)

Abba, Help us to see beyond ourselves,

It is because of your goodness and
in response to your grace

Thankful the rattle under the car was fixed free of charge yesterday. A loose heat shield was lowered, the fittings cleaned and reattached. Car runs quietly. A good price for strawberries and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert after a nice German meal Erich made. Worship plan for July 3rd is today’s major task.
Our strawberry shortcake fund raiser on the 4th returns after a two year Covid caused break. Blessings to NEM. I have not been so good at responding to your posts, but you are in my prayers.

I am thankful for the healing God has done in my body. I am thankful for the insurance covering the therapy sessions completely making it possible for me to pursue the healing of my mind and soul.
The first therapy session went well and so far I like the therapist. We seemed to have a rapport. I feel that she will be able to help me navigate stressful situations. We also discussed ways for me to get out of the house and meet new people.
Prayers for Ally and David, for God’s healing and provision. Prayers for April and her loved one, for joy and love to flow to and through them. Prayers for Jill and her family and for Roger as his diabetes testing continues. Prayers for Lou and her famliy, for health and safe travel. Prayers for Rick and Scott. Prayers for Robert and Erich as they continue to look to the future with eyes open to the current economic climate.

I thank God for my husband and family, my friends, for God’s faithfulness and grace. I thank God for our church family. I thank God that even on days when I’m inundated with doubt, God knows my name.
The prayers and readings from this week’s book have lifted my heart.
Robert, good news that your car issue was an easy fix. Shortcake is one of my favorite desserts. Glad you and Erich had a nice time together. Julie, thank you for your candor in sharing with us. I feel honored that you trust us. Jill, prayers for your summer to be restful and for little Roger. Prayers for Lou’s health and for her family. Prayers for April as she cares for her loved one. Prayers also for Rick and Scott. Thank You Lord, for all the ministries of the Upper Room.

Very sad to learn of the UMC split, am trying not to be bitter, glad the majority is inclusive. God is love, we were created by love, are told to love one another, neighbor, and even enemy.Love conquers all. Prayers fir Lou’s illness, thankful for success with plumbing, sorry you had such an ordeal, Julie, hope things work out well with you and your therapist, prayers Ally’s disability application is approved, good and continued good news for Roger and the right insulin level, joy that Jill and Becky are becoming closer, prayers for Larry, golf with Jill;, her tennis, school treasurer activity, cancer support group, and church, thankful for new posts from new people, April’s dedicated caregiving for her loved one, Lou’s children, Rick and Scott. Thankful for the NEM family prayers for Erich and me and the church I attend. Mixed feelings about how guns are being dealt with, safer in one respect, more dangerous in another venue. We are in a very big conundrum.
As always Lord, we need Your wisdom, to deal with the issues that we face. I pray for more of You, Lord, in our lives and in this world. Thank You, Lord.

I am thankful for what seems like a season of bounty. My Roger cat is still with me and acting like his old self. I have been able to play a lot of tennis and golf, with minimal discomfort. I am encouraged that dad is no longer alone and that he and Don are getting along so well. My relationship with my sister is smooth as can be, and I enjoy spending time with her. My friend and her daughter return home tomorrow – after 6 months of intensive therapy. I spoke with my friend yesterday, and there was something light and encouraging in her voice. The time I got to spend with my best friend a few weeks back – a highlight of my summer. So much good, so grateful.
A specific prayer of gratitude this morning was a conversation I had last evening, following my tennis match with my new team. They have been incredibly welcoming and inclusive. Last night the conversation turned to tattoos – some of the ladies have them. I stuck out my arm and revealed the tattoo I got after mom died. I can’t remember if I shared about it here. But, it revolves around Lamentations 3 and I was able to share with them why I have the tattoo and what it means to me. Bottom line, despite any circumstances – God is always good, always worthy to be praised. Today, a teammate reached out to me via text thanking me for reminding her that God is good, despite what the circumstances might demonstrate. Instead of not being able to fall asleep last night following tennis because it was such an intense match, I couldn’t fall asleep just thinking about the opportunity I had and that I used it well. Grateful for how He works.
Dad and I played golf today, and the teaching pastor from my church joined us. It was a beautiful, comfortable day – and we all enjoyed each others’ company.
Julie – glad to hear about the good start with therapy. Glad there is a connection with your therapist. That is huge.
