Today’s Reflection
Violence in America is not new. Our nation has a remarkably violent past, including slavery, genocide against Native Americans, lynch mobs, and race riots. Today there is increasing alarm at the propensity of violent acts perpetuated by and against our youth. For no one is this issue more pressing than for young African American men. For an African American male aged sixteen to twenty-five, the number one cause of death is homicide.

Today’s Scripture
Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:6-7 (CEB)
Prayer for the Week

Something More
Read more from Michael W. Waters on the Upper Room Ministries Blog. In “A Different Set of Rules,” Waters writes about growing up as a young Black boy and raising his son in America. His experiences reflect a troubling reality for Black people across the country. As you read his story, let it guide you to prayer and action. Read “A Different Set of Rules.”

Love our neighbors, ALL our neighbors as ourselves. Treat each other as God treats us. There’s a lot of work to do to bring this about.
Prayers for Anneliese, in the hospital yesterday, with heart issues. House recently had a large tree fall on it, adjuster coming today to assess damage. Prayers that insurance covers the needed repairs. Thankful no one was injured.
Thankful my daughter won the NYC Drama Desk 2022 award for best costumes in a play. Off to an excellent German deli in Waldoboro ME today, haven’t been there in a while. Lessons learned, hope to try again in the spring to move to the Poconos. Prayers for health, income, wellbeing, patience, understanding, and pets in the NEM family of faith. Thank You, Lord.
Love one another and prayers that those in power change the laws that enable these senseless violent acts to continue in our country. Blessings and peace to all who come here today- I’m thankful for the many many prayers you all have offered for me and my family. Thankful for several very good trips – thankful for my children and for all of the good things they are doing in their lives and that I am able to experience part of their daily lives on my visits with them. Thankful for a safe move for my son and for a good job promotion for him where he seems much happier. Thankful for a good and busy work week and progress on home projects and planting that I needed to catch up on. Thankful for a regular routine this week. Thankful for beautiful weather. God has blessed me and I am thankful.
Prayers for all of you today- may you all have a restful weekend ahead.
Yes we can only do our part, but we must do our part. Treat others as a child of God, just as we are his child.
I am taking the kittens to the vet today to see why they scooch their butts on the floor. I am thankful for the ability to do this and that the vet I see is wonderful.
Prayers for Ally, I am thankful that she has a new job. Prayers for April, I am thankful her loved one is so wonderfully attended. Prayers for Jill, I am thankful she has the summer to come to terms with the violence she witnesses in her school. Prayers for Lou, I am thankful she has time to spend with her children. Prayers for Rick, I am thankful he is back in the town he prefers. Prayers for Robert, I am thankful for his sage words and his service to our country.
I was friends with a elderly Catholic sister back in the 90s. She had a bumper sticker on her car which said, “if you want peace, work for justice”. In Colossians 3:14 , Paul tell the Colossians to “put on love”. I often find this very hard.
I completed my 2nd project for work today. I am a slow worker. Please pray that I can speed up and keep my concentration. My office space in our spare room and David told me he missed me today. I told him to bring his book and hang out with me, but I need quiet in order to concentrate and stay on task. I think he’s as spoiled as the kitties lololol.
Please continue to pray for Kenny’s family, and for my cousin, who is taking his death very hard. We all are. The world seems poorer without him in it, but heaven is a brighter place. Know that my prayers are with you all. Been a rough week. Blessings for a peaceful and healing weekend for everyone. Much love.
Each person must do his/her part in bringing about love, peace, and reconciliation. It seems overwhelming, with so many others paddling in the opposite direction. But we must be steadfast in our daily interactions.
I spent the morning with my photographer friend, helping her set up her space for an art festival tomorrow. The temperature was perfect and we got much accomplished. With all the heavy work done, she bid me adieu. I am disappointed that I won’t be able to go to the show tomorrow or Sunday, because I have many other activities planned those days. I will catch up with her again in a few weeks.
My tennis partner texted me last night prior to my match and told me her husband had tested positive for covid, but that she tested negative. She said she could not play the match with a mask on. So, I did. I received text this morning saying she tested positive this morning. Hopefully I was sufficiently protected by my mask last evening.
Planning on going for a bike ride this evening. Did not run this morning, as I had to meet my friend early to set up. It is a calm evening and it should be quite pleasant for a bike ride. I took a long, luxurious nap (Roger too) this afternoon. Felt groggy coming out of it, but feel fine now. Need to do a bit of weeding and then will head out for the ride.
God is moving in my tennis teammate’s heart. We had a long conversation late Wednesday evening. I invited her to come to church with me Sunday and she is planning on it. I continue to pray for wisdom and discernment in my discussions with her.
So wonderful to hear of the positive things occurring with this tribe here, in their immediate circles. May God continue to bless each of you with His Presence as you love Him and others each day.
