New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Jesus and the early Jesus followers give us a picture of people in transition—people who, like Lydia, are looking for something more. Those experiences around personal transitions are significant, as they pry us out of our routines, out of our assumptions, and out of our preoccupations to actually consider something new.
These are ideal times for the good news of the gospel. Being attentive to people in transition is part of how we plant like Jesus.

Today’s Scripture

A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.” And she prevailed upon us.
—Acts 16:14-15, NRSV

Prayer for the Week

God of love,
plant me in the soil of your grace.
Nurture me with the strength of Christ,
the vine of everlasting life.
Enlighten me with the wisdom of your Spirit,
which flows through me today and all days.
Abide in me,
that I may abide in you
and live in your love.
In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

Moving from one church to another I hoped for an all-inclusive church. I had come to a better understanding of Jesus’ love, the love that reaches out to everyone and accepts them. My new church had to do this. I was assured as I entered the church that this was so. Evidence of this came during worship. Soon thereafter I had an opportunity to practice Jesus’ love with a member of this community of faith. Thank You, Lord.

I am currently in transition in so many ways in my life. One is trying to find a new church that is similar to the one Robert found. This is on hold due to the pandemic.
Prayers for Robert and his church as they transition to a new pastor.
Prayers for Ally as she searches for a new job and for David as he continues therapy.
Prayers for Jill and Larry as they travel and face a sad anniversary together.

Morning, UR family. I pray everyone had a blessed Easter. We went to visit my family in Alabama. I’ve been out of touch due to injuring my hand. I closed the car door on it while getting David’s walker out of the car. Happened on oour trip. Its my left hand and I’m left-handed. Its very painful, but not broken. Not too good at typing right now. Headed back to Dr today, as my thumb is still hurting and inflamed. Know that I have been lifting you up to the Lord. David is doing well. I have a possible lead on a job. Please lift this up to the Lord. The readings this week resonate with me. I pray y’all are enjoying them too. Be blessed, all.
