New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Have you ever realized that today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday? Did your worrying make any difference? . . .

Worrying about future tomorrows drains all the joy from the present moment and fills it with dread and despair.

—Patricia Wilson, Freedom from Worry: 28 Days of Prayer (Upper Room Books, 2012)

Today’s Question

How often are you able to get through a day without worrying about the future?
Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
—Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

Prayer for the Week

Loving God, I am weighed down by worrying so much. Help me remember that you care for me and my needs. I bring my anxieties to you and trust in your power to relieve them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Frequently I am not worried about tomorrow. I took care of travel plans for Saturday, Am enjoying my time in Rhinebeck, a swim in the pool, Korean food, seeing Willa and Oona at their day camps, looking at the garden, hopefully painting a room in preparation for a new rug. Stay cool, it’s in the 90s here during the day, low humidity. Continued prayers for NEM concerns and joys. Thank You, Lord.

Never. Currently my life is fraught with worry and concerns because outsiders who know nothing about Parkinson’s with dementia are questioning everything and trying to get h things that are dangerous for him to have.
Prayers for Ally and David, for rehab release, for kitty improvement and for disability approval. Prayers for Jill and her family. Prayers for Robert as he continues to spend time with his loved ones, may they make many wonderful memories together.

I am benefitting greatly from this weeks series as I am a worrier I would say. I think I have gotten somewhat better about giving things over to God and trying my best to trust in His Will and not in mine.
I’m enjoying time away at a beach house with my son and his girlfriend’s family. They invited me on their vacation and I am grateful to be included and for the time away from my daily routine. It’s different being with another’s family for an extended period of time- but again, I was grateful to be included and am trying to be a good participant. It’s a beautiful beach and I pray as I walk and I thank God for the beauty of this place and for new friends. Prayers for safe travels back for all and for all that back to work entails at the end of this week.
Prayers for the UR family. I follow along and pray with you each day although I have been posting less. Blessings to all and prayers for those who lack shelter in this heat.

There was a time when I would mock laugh at this question, as I would mentally concoct all types of scenarios. But, God changed my ability to correctly recognize unproductive thought patterns and seek Him when overwhelmed. To literally, as 2 Corinthians 10:5 states, “take EVERY thought captive, making it obedient to Christ”. It is possible, it is amazing, it takes the strain and responsibility of tomorrow off of me and appropriately gives (it back?) to God. He’s got the whole world, in His hands.
An early trip to the airport this morning, then an early run which beat the sun and then a nap before summer school this morning. Another nap this afternoon after lunch. Was planning on car pooling with a big group to the tennis match tonight. However – a teammate from my match Monday tested positive for covid, and the person driving tonight – her sister tested positive for covid yesterday as well – so we decided we shouldn’t be in the same car together. I spoke with a teammate who lives relatively close to me – and just the two of us are going to ride together. I told her I was immuno-compromised – and she said that as long as I was comfortable riding with her – she was ok. She will be playing tonight with the person whose sister tested positive. I will wear my KN-95 and be fine. It is an hour away to the match and it will be good for the two of us to get to know each other better.
Robert – I pray your time will be so rich in memories remembered and memories made. I know you treasure the time with your granddaughters. Be safe.
